Chapter 1 : Apocalypse Approaching During the final battle between good and evil, Scarab is able to capture Prince Rapses, and in the process, blackmail and destroy his guardians. A pair of eyes searching from the Western Gate cannot concieve of the Horrors that await the world if Scarab becomes immortal, so a plan must be layed out.

The time and place is set, Cairo. Six people leading six different lives in all corners of the city are suddenly overcome, and six others take their places. They must come to grips with what has happened, yet as well get everything together to stop the evil before it's too late.

Overcome with guilt, Lyris stays with Rath as the rest of the guardians go off in search of the Sphinx, knowing that for the time being they are unable to fight off Scarab. Meanwhile, Avaris wants to make sure that the team will be completely at his mercy for the future with no slip-ups, and so he calls upon a very terrifying biend, the Esteriphe.
