Mind Control
Satan shoots the darts of evil thoughts into our mind.
We can't stop them from coming, or hitting every time.
Thoughts of lust, evil deeds, hatred, jealousy;
They sting the mind and pierce the heart, hurting easily.

It's harder to control the mind than to tame the tongue.
But there's a little saying, I heard when I was young:
"You can't stop birds from flying overhead up in the air,
But you don't have to let them build a bird's nest in your hair."

I like that little saying and I like the lesson taught.
It tells us quite a lot about how we control our thoughts.
We can't stop random thoughts from popping up throughout our day,
But we don't have to dwell on them or give them place to stay.

"But it's hard not to think about those evil thoughts," you say.
I have a small suggestion, to help keep them away.
As soon as you begin to feel the sting of Satan's darts,
Start to quote a Scripture you have hidden in your heart.

A verse I often use that I have found to work just great
Can be found in Philippians, Chapter four, verse eight.
It tells us what to think on, to have control for sure:
Things that are true and honest,
Things that are just and pure,

Whatsoever things are lovely, and are of good report.
This verse can change an unsafe heart into a secure fort.
So do your best to guard your mind and please remember this:
Whatever a mans thinks in his heart, that is what he is.
