When we went to the hospital Though I was only four I was as excited as my mother. I ran around the lobby 'cause I couldn't wait to see If I would have a sister or a brother.
I guess you'd say we were surprised At what the doctor said: "Looks like you've got two girls, not just one." So we took twin girls home that day. I named the small one Kim. You could say we were just a little stunned.
That's when one became three.
They dressed alike when they were young, But that did not last long. And thought they'd fight, they were the best of friends. So it goes without saying that It tore our lives apart When the bond between them had to end.
When Kim went in the hospital We stayed there day and night. We cried and prayed together by her bed. But God who gave her to us Decided it was time For her to leave us and go on ahead.
That's when three became two.
It changed our whole perspective. The world turned upside-down. It seemed that nothing mattered any more. But God, He sent His perfect peace. His comfort gave us hope. Reminding us that she is with the Lord.
So day by day we hold onto The promises He gave. We know that He will keep them faithfully. And one day soon we'll see her there In our heavenly home. What a great reunion that will be.
And that's when two will become three.
