No future
Dan was enjoying the fair, when he came across a tent with the sign,
Come have your future told by Catherine the super witch
Only five dollars a reading
Dan had big dreams about the future. And knowing the future would be a big help. He could avoid his mistakes before he made them. And super witches were known to be very powerful. But could be trust one? He decided to take a chance. He walked through the tent opening.
Inside the tent, was a table with a crystal ball on top: on both ends of the table was a chair. A beautiful, tall redhead stood at the far end of the table. Dan correctly assumed she was Catherine.
"I've been waiting for you." Were the first words out of Catherine's mouth.
"You have?" Dan asked.
"Of course. Thanks to my crystal ball, I can see the future."
"Then what are we waiting for? Show me my future."
"Not so fast. Where's my five dollars?"
Dan handed her a five-dollar bill.
The crystal ball then came to life. Moving images filled the ball. It was a night scene. A figure Dan recognized as he was walking down the road. Then he saw a steamroller enter the picture. He saw himself trying to run away, but the steamroller chased him. Getting closer and closer, until it ran right over him.
Shaken, Dan cried.
"There must be some mistake."
"I'm sorry, but that what my crystal ball shows."
Dan looked up at the redhead witch. Her green eyes looked back at him. There was no sympathy in them.
"Your crystal ball is wrong. I can't see how I am going to be run over by a steamroller."
'This very night." Catherine added.
"Your nothing but a quack. I want my money back."
"Never." Catherine replied.
Dan thought about attacking Catherine, but he had heard horror stories what happened to people who attacked Catherine. So he left the tent in a huff.
Dan was just about to enter his driveway when a steamroller came out of nowhere.
"What the hell?" He cried.
He tried outrunning the steamroller, but it moved with unearthly speed. Within moments, Dan was as flat as a pancake.
Catherine got off the steamroller and stood over Dan's body.
"My crystal ball is never wrong. Even if I have to make the prediction become true myself." She told the cropse.
