I know that many of you, like myself, will want a web site before you learn HTM . There is so many programs on the market to make your web pages with out any knowledge of HTML.
I went out and bought Microsoft Publisher 97. I soon learned it would not animate gifs. I wanted my site to have the animated graphics, so back to the store for Publisher 98. This page is being created with Publisher 2000, and it sucks. It does though, let you insert META TAGS. Without them, you can not get listed on a search engine.
What is META TAGS?

There is several places on the web that will make your meta tags for you. If you know how to copy and paste, it is easy. After a while you will be making your own, as you will see how it is done.
So the best advice seems to be, work very hard on selecting your keywords (e.g. use a thesaurus to find other words people might use; and put the most important ones into a carefully crafted paragraph at the start of your HTML document. Put the whole list into a META tag, most important or selective words first.
On the meta tag description, you tell in 200 words or less what your site is about. Make it interesting so others will want to see your site. I have given an example below.
Lets suppose your site is about breeding animals. Look at the key words in the meta tag below. I am sure you could think of many more. You can put a thousand keywords on our meta tag

Where is my head and head?
I hate to admit I was so dumb that I submitted my first web site to the search engines and had used no meta tags. I received an email asking me to put my meta tags between my head and my head. I knew where my head and end was, but had never studied a source on web sites. In case there is anyone else like me. Please click on view at the top of your screen and go down to source. Study this page from the source and you will see the HEAD enclosed with in a symbol and the ending of the head enclosed in html symbols. Between those two symbols is where your meta tags go. I will give you web site garages below who will check your site and make your meta tags for you. Several are listed for you so you can try them and pick the one you like best to use regularly.
