Thanks for stopping by! This is where I get to tell you about one of my greatest passions...music.

Just to get things started, allow myself to shed a little light on where I am coming from musically. I started out playing the flute in elementary school, but luckily for me, I couldn't even make a sound come out of the darn thing. Same thing with the trumpet. So I decided wind instruments weren't for me, and headed towards an instrument I knew I could get a sound out of - drums. I have been playing for 10 years now.

It naturally follows that since I am a drummer, I am drawn toward more rhythmic styles of music. Heavy metal was my first taste of exciting and interesting music. Then once I heard Dream Theater, a door opened up to a new world of progressive rock which I hadn't been aware of up until then. Progressive music is definitely musicians music, which is why I was so taken in by it. The amount of talent in this band is absolutely incredible, not to mention that they can create passages of music that can touch one's soul with such emotion. Dream Theater has definitely allowed me to be more open-minded in listening to new music, hence my diverse musical tastes. If I ever get around to updating my CD list, you'll see what I mean. :)

These days I tend to listen more to alternative rock, which I like because they usually are in the form of compact and concise songs, rather than some of progressive music's more lengthy selections. Now that I am a broke college student, radio is all I can afford in the way of exposure to new music. Most of the bands that I like usually have their own unique sound and/or are musically proficient. Below I have listed a few of the bands that I currently list as some of my favorites. By no means is this a complete list.

I also enjoy going to concerts whenever I can. Concerts I have attended recently include:

06/10/00 Sacramento Valley Amphitheatre, Marysville, CA.
Stone Temple Pilots, Papa Roach, Full Devil Jacket - Almost four months to the day from seeing Dream Theater...I actually really wanted to see Full Devil Jacket the most out of all three bands. They were great live, my only complaint is that they had such a short set. Papa Roach, a local band from Vacaville, got the crowd all riled up, and of course STP were incredible.

02/06/00 Maritime Hall, San Francisco, CA.
Dream Theater - This is the first show in a a four month period. What a way to end the dry spell. This was an excellent concert, in which the entire concept album was played, and I was able to enjoy the show with friends whom I don't get to see very often.

10/10/99 Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, San Jose, CA.
Day On The Green - OK, so maybe it was a little bit more on the brown side, but who cares? This concert was cool, not only because it was free for me, I also got to check out a bunch of bands I've never seen live before, including Megadeth, Machine Head, Loudmouth and Sprung Monkey. I didn't stick around to see Sammy Hagar though, didn't really care to either.

08/13/99 Shoreline Ampitheatre, Mountain View, CA.
REM - This show was a lot more me llow than what I am used to, but a cool show nonetheless! The lawn tickets made it hard to tell what was going on, but the stage lights were cool, and of course, the music...

07/20/99 Shoreline Ampitheatre, Mountain View, CA.
Ozzfest - The ultimate metal festival. Deftones, Godsmack, Primus, Rob Zombie & the final performance of the reunited Black Sabbath...Need I say more?

07/11/99 Concord Pavilion, Concord, CA
Dave Matthews Band - The first concert I have ever attended with my brother Mike. An awesome show too, I might add!
