Horror:
Anne Rice, a very cool author. I've read the Vampire Chronicles, the Mayfair trilogy, and a little of Violin. My favorites by her are "Interview with a Vampire" and "Queen of the Damned". I found "Violin" incredibly boring and didn't bother to finish it. "Pandora" was excellent, and was the source of several weird dreams for me. "Servant of the Bones" was very good, but not quite as good as the Vampire Chronicles."The Vampire Armand" was a good book too.

Dean Koontz is a very good, very prolific author. My favorites by him are "Hideaway", "Darkfall", and "Phantoms" (though all movies based on his books tend to suck).

Another cool horror author. My favorites by him are "Creature", "Shadows", and "The Homing". (Also, he's the only author that has a fanclub that responds when you ask to join.)

Science Fiction/Fantasy:

Greg Egan is my all time favorite author. I've read "Quarantine", "Distress", "Diaspora", and "Permutation City" by him and they were all very good novels. I highly recommend them. Right now I'm looking forward to getting a copy of "Teranesia" and "Axiomatic".

Julian May is a very good author. I've read the Galactic Milieu trilogy. They are very good books set in a future where humans begin to develop psychic powers.

I've read a lot of the DragonLance books. It is a fantasy universe involving magic and gods. Very cool books, some of the first novels I ever read and I'm still reading them.

Orson Scott Card is a very cool author. I've read Ender's Game and the rest of the Ender series. They are awesome books, but the ending disappointed me a little. But I highly recommend them to anyone interested in good SF.
