INTRODUCING
Amiria Roscoe

I live in New Zealand in a small city and manage a community Library in an even smaller beach resort town. I spend all my spare time writing, editing, and working towards a linguistics degree.

I am 30 years old, although working with young people makes me feel about 50. I adore travelling - just returned from a trip to South America during December '98/January '99. I surround myself with music - (Baroque, Celtic and new Flamenco especially), with poetry - W B Yeats, Dylan Thomas, Lord Byron, Cilla McQueen, Kenneth Slessor. Working in a library, I find my favourite authors are very diverse. I would lean towards C S Lewis, Kahlil Gibran, Chaucer, Jane Hamilton. I also collect quotes. I find them an excellent way to summarise a raft of ideas, to express the inexpressable. If you have favourites, e-mail me, and I'll add them (if I understand them!) I adore languages, and I'm working hard at becoming fluent in French, Spanish and Brasileiro.

I have been dabbling with writing for a long time. I have a hard time describing the genre I am currently working in - some friends have suggested 'Magical realism' or 'Spiritual thriller'. We will see what it develops into. I have the company of some fine writers, who I find both inspiring and challenging. I would love to develop friendships with like-minded writers from around the world, so do not hesitate to contact me if you tick the same way. Carpe Diem!
