Where Are You Jack?
By Stephen Lindsay
I hear your words
and I am moved.
For the first time
I am moved and
everything is
Yes! Yes! Yes!
Go Kid Go!
I try to follow you,
but you are gone.
Your road remains,
paved with your words.
So I go, follow, move.
I embrace Buddha
but I feel silly hugging myself.
I search for role models,
but where are my Brando, Dean, and Presley?
Where are you, Jack?
You beat out of town
too soon. Left me hangin'
in a do nothin', say nothin'
society where the
righteous path
is laden with
flashing lights
flashing images
flashy red zippy cars
flashy trashy painted women
flash in the pan antics of
politicians and fool.
(both dancing for coins on the corner)
So I will repave your road
with words of my own,
searching for your tower.
And I will show you the world.
Where are you, Jack?
