During the Age of Taurus, from 2000-4000 BC, cattle enjoyed a special relationship with man. They were worshipped, granted unique status and the rise of modern man was helped by the cow.
"Today, there are 1.28 billion cattle on the earth, taking up 24% of the earth's land mass, they CONSUME ENOUGH GRAIN TO FEED HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE. Their combined weight exceeds that of the human population," says Jeremy Rifkin.
In the medical  world, it is a well known fact that the consumption of meat isn't the healthy food that the big meat empires would have you believe. It contributes to obescity, cancer, and a host of other undesirables including salmonella poisoning. Who do you know that doesn't believe meat is a necessary part of their daily diet? Meat is quick and easy to prepare, tasty, and comes from an animal. People insist that you cannot survive on a meat free diet, but millions of people are proof positive that you can, and that it isn't difficult, complicated, and they don't miss out on important nutrients. But what would one of the biggest money making industries in the world have you believe?
I first read a book called BEYOND BEEF by Jeremy Rifkin, which is very damning of the whole beef industry, and the grip it has over the Western World. It has a very readable style, starting with a background history of cattle.
The statement in search of "greener pastures" could well be the reason for travel to America, and was part of the expansion of the Cattle Culture.Cattle had become the mainstay of the wealthy persons diet. The transformation to cattle breeding ground was based on money, and was the reason buffalo were wiped out, destroying the main food source of the indigenous people of the land.

I myself became a vegetarian, after years of toying with the idea, and being inspired by my grandmother, a vegan for 45 years. I did my own research, visited slaughterhouses and saw first hand the horrors there in. I dont personally believe that it is okay to consume the flesh of a once living being, when in this day and age it isn't necessary. I also don't think it is appropriate to expect people to gain a living from working in a slaughterhouse. It is an interesting and complicated subject.
Through my art I hope to reach people in a kind of fun way, and encourage them to at least think about it.
