Psalm
of the Whale

I was dreaming revolution
caught in the scheme of evolution.

     Strangers everywhere.
I didn't know where to go.

Then from the sky, a dove descends.
It led me to the sea.

The waves, they danced
took me into a trance
under colors green and blue
of the most beautiful hue.

I heard what it means to be free.
I heard it in the psalm of the whale.

Never be cruel...whatever you do.
Your brother is a part of you.
I heard it in the psalm of the whale.

Tide washes over me.
The Father blesses me.

I'm leaving these wars behind.
All they do is make us blind.
Wine of suffering,
how we've thrived on pain.

I can't subscribe to this charade.
There's got to be another way.

I hear it in the psalm of the whale.

Never be cruel
   whatever you do...
your brother is a part of you.
