THE MAN WHO DIES TWICE....

The man passed away last Friday 13th Oct.,2000 in his eighties. He was
buried at a cemetry at Segambut Dalam,Kuala Lumpur.A leftenant general
attended his funeral and he was given a military honour he rightly
deserved.I think he was among the last few WW11 heroes. His buddy was the
famous Lt. Adnan Saidi who fought to the last drop of his blood. In  1942,he
was 'pronounced dead' and his name was enshrined at a memorial pillar for
the fallen WW11 heroes at Port Dickson,Negeri Sembilan. That was the first
time he "died".

As the Malay proverb says: Tidak mati sebelum ajal.(No one dies before the
time he is fated to die). The man I am referring to was Allahyarham Sgt.
Omar Ahmad bin Rabu.My condolence to the family. May Allah s.w.t blessed his
soul..

By the way, have you read the book written by Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen
Young, entitled " Live Twice"? By the way it is not a James Bond's story by
Ian Fleming. It is about his life and we can learn a lot from his experience
to make a living and get himself educated especially during the WW11.Tan Sri
is a qualified lawyer and has managed to write  his story so that all of us
can read.He was also a former cabinet minister of Malaysia. But who is going
to write about Sgt. Omar Ahmad bin Rabu? I believe he had a  lot of stories
to tell-now all buried with him in the grave. The public knows very little
about his stories except that lately I observed a few billboards about Hari
Angkatan Tentera around the city picturing him in his wheel chair. I just
wonder how many of us really notice his picture! Who really cares about the
struggle for Merdeka nowadays? Unless,it is the picture of Siti Norhaliza!

A few months back, there was a story about the late Sgt Omar Ahmad in the
newspaper. He was sick and could not  even survive with his pension. What a
disgrace to all of us!

>Negara dan semua rakyat Malaysia patut terasa malu yang amat sangat kerana
kita tidak perihatin dan menghargai jasa pahlawan kita yang sanggup
berkorban mempertahan kedaulatan bangsa, agama dan tanah air.Kita sanggup
melihat mereka ini hidup merempat dinegara yang kita gelarkan Malaysia
Boleh?<

I think we have to learn from Australia and British in taking care of their
living war heroes and their cemeteries as well.

I can't go on writing because I am too shy of myself:-((
