The Songs of The
Beatles
Not a whole lot I can
add to the volumes of information that have been written about the Fab
Four. I will recommend a book that I've read several times that takes a
reasonably unbiased look at this most influential of bands. "Shout:
The Beatles in Their Generation" by Philip Norman traces the lives of
John, Paul, George, and Ringo from birth up until John's death in 1980.
Published by Simon and Shuster (hardcover) and Warner Books (paperback),
copyright 1981. I don't know if it's still in print, but I've seen it in
used book stores. Well worth the effort to find.
If I had to choose one song to take to a desert island, it would be In My Life. That song says it all to me. I
have a lot of memories of "people and friends" associated with
this song and it is my all-time favorite to perform at the karaoke bar. And
my all-time favorite karaoke bar was "Rickey's" on West Central
in Wichita, Kansas.
