Cross Country Cougars!

Growl!

Welcome to the Salina South Cross Country WebPage! We are the Cougars! In 28 seasons for the boys and 21 for the girls our program has been very successful. We have been fortunate to win 23 regional trophies. We have also won 13 league championships and have been runner up 13 other times. At the State Championships, South has won the team State Championship three times and have ten state trophies total. Both the boys and girls individual records are held by South athletes. Over 140 medals have been earned by South students in the past 28 seasons.

We work hard and use a training system developed by Dr. Lyle Knudson, formerly of the University of Florida. We train for distances two races below the race distance and two distances above the race distance using a two week cycle. This system has worked well for us and reduced injuries and developed speed at the same time. We also hear the word "fun" a lot in our program. Give us something that we can love and commit to and we will achieve.

On this page you will find our team rules, expectations, and other information important to becoming a better person and athlete.
