To a Bat

Like a bolt of thundering blackness
He swoops
His wings carry him gloriously
to my shoulder
where he rests, tempts and waits
Then he sucks the loving warmth from my veins
and before I know it he has found
another soul to wipe away the pain
to feast on
to crave.

Today

Today is my day of restoration
and healing from deep within
No longer grasping the breeze
of isolation
but instead enjoying a moment
of simple understanding
and anticipation
No longer needing to look under the covers in fear
of what my emotions can bring
Unconditional love for myself has saved me
Embraced me
Finally set me free
Opened the curtains
And allowed me to see
The perfection of who I am
and seek to be.
