Do you know God

Do you know God? This may seem like a dumb question to some of you reading this. But, really, do you know God...or do you just know OF God? You see, this is the difference between religion and a personal relationship with Christ Jesus our Savior.

How many of you out there know Michael Jordan? Chances are that most if not all of us don't know him personally, but we all know OF him. Some people who are faithful fans of this famous basketball player could tell the rest of us basically everything we need to know about Jordan's sports career. Facts and shooting averages, which commercials and movies he's appeared in...but even these people don't actually KNOW him. Even they just know OF him.

It's the same way with God. Almost everyone recognizes that God exists, and yet the number isn't so high when it comes to people that actually know God...talk to Him...and listen for His answer. Even many people that could quote tons of scripture or Biblical facts don't actually have that personal relationship with God. A perfect example of this is the Apostle Paul (Saul at that time). He was one of the most religious persons of his day. He was a Pharisee, a leader, and knew everything about the Old Testament Scriptures. But it wasn't until he received a revelation from God on the road to Damascus that he came to know who God really was. His whole life was turned around at that point. His whole focus was shifted. See, there's a big difference between actually knowing God and just knowing OF Him.

So I ask you again, do you really know God? Take a few minutes and consider this question. Remember, you can be religious and know alot about God and still be far from truly knowing Him. And also remember that you don't have to know alot about God to know Him. He will teach you and reveal things to you with time. It is far more important to have that relationship with God than to have that claim of being religious.
