Maybe you're wondering what the point is to this whole webpage... Well, here I'll tell you all about 212 Degrees--Boiling Point, its mission and purpose, and its background.

I came up with the idea for this online magazine back in February or March of 1999. I had been really seeking God on what to do with my life and what kinds of ministry He was going to use me in. After a while, God just dropped a few ideas into my mind and I wrote them down. The whole idea of this webpage was formed, and I started getting excited. I thought to myself, "This is really great and I know it's going to be lots of fun too!!" Well, that excitement lasted a few days and then it began to wear off. The whole thing was just so overwhelming to me and I didn't have anyone to help me with it. I got frustrated and ended up putting my notes aside and didn't really think about the whole thing for a few months.

Well, right before I went to summer camp in July of that same year, I began thinking about this 'zine again. I told God that I really wanted to do this but it was so overwhelming on my own... How many of you know that we never really are "on our own"? God's always there. At summer camp, the theme was entitled "Destination Known". The messages, the services, the experiences...everything God spoke to me or showed me while at camp--it was all what I needed to hear and see. I came back convinced that God had a purpose for my life...a destiny... I was excited, and knew that it was and is God's Will that I start this 'zine.

Around that same time, I became friends with another girl over the internet. She shared my interest in writing and I could really tell that she loved the Lord and was a willing servant to Him and His ministry. It was really awesome the way God used her to encourage me. I felt God's answer to my cry for help and support. I shared with her my plans for this ministry and asked if she'd be willing to help out with writing some stuff for it. And she agreed to help. It wasn't so much that she had agreed to write something for it that encouraged me; it was the fact that I knew that someone supported me and that I was not alone! She was excited over it just like I was, and we began bouncing ideas back and forth...and basically, that was the "reviving" that my vision needed to proceed.(When I say vision, I mean basically the idea, my dream of what I wanted to do, what God had showed me...)Anyways, that's the background of how this zine came into existence. :)

This past year (2000-2001 school year) has been really hard, timewise, for me because I started college and now have a lot more stuff to do and a lot less time to do it in. It took me a while to get my act together and figure out a way to juggle everything, and I'm sorry to say that I let the site suffer in the meantime. That was never my intention, but issues of the 'zine became less regular--a lot less regular at times. I spent all of this past summer working on the 'zine, getting regular issues out, and planning for the next year. Now we have launched a new design at a new address with some new sections! Along with that, I've decided to change our schedule to a bi-monthly schedule, hoping to stay on track even throughout the school year.

I couldn't have done it on my own. This 'zine is a lot of work, and is ever-growing, which means more and more work all the time. Up until recently, I was pretty much on my own as far as writing for and running this site. No, I wasn't *really* on my own; God allowed me to cross pathways with a few people at all the most critical times in which I felt like I couldn't handle things any longer. You all know who you are, and I just want to say that you I appreciate your help and encouragement soooooo much. A few months ago I started advertising the need for staff members to join this ministry in all sorts of areas. I now have a full team of great people...talented people...dedicated people. We all make up the staff of this 'zine, and each member of our ministry team plays a vital role in this publication of this 'zine. Thank you all! Last, but not least, thanks to God for His faithfulness, for the inspiration He gives me, for speaking to me and through me and the others who've written for this 'zine. Guys and gals, this site is God's; He gave it to me, and I'm just managing it for Him, doing what I can, listening to His lead. No, we're not perfect over here... I'll likely mess up at some point, and this isn't the greatest magazine out there. This site is God's, but I'm an earthly vessel. With that in mind, please don't hesitate to write me if you have a problem with something I've written or published in this 'zine, and I will hear you out. A lot of prayer goes into this site; I'd like to ask you to remember us in your prayers. Thank you...

The purpose of this 'zine is very simple: to be a shining light to the world and an encouragement to Christians. This is a place where Christians who are "in but not of the world" can come and find support. They can know that others share their struggles and difficulties, and hopefully can find something somewhere in this webpage that will help them. It's a place where those who aren't Christians can come and see the hope that we have in Christ Jesus shining brightly through the different articles featured here. Most of all, it's a place where we are challenged to get on fire for God! To reach the world, to be an example, to be a true servant of Christ. The purpose of this 'zine is to reach out and spread the Good News in hopes of touching someone somewhere the way that it touched me. :) Philippians 2:1-2

Anyway, to all of you who actually read through this whole long thing, THANKS! I guess I could sum the whole purpose up by saying that I created this 'zine to encourage people to get excited about God. Hey, at the very least, it got me excited about God!! Thanks, and to all of you, have a blessed day! :)
