The Sacrifice
Beaten, tortured
He took the blame
He shed His blood
Washed away our shame
Relentlessly
They teased and mocked
But still our Savior
Would not talk
They screamed and spat
With disregard
Resenting Him
Who for them was scarred
On His behalf
No one would speak
They turned away
When He was weak
He bore the cross
The heavy weight
Saving those
Who were filled with hate
On His own
He faced the cost
That He would pay
To find the lost
Darkness reigned
And death prevailed
For a short time
It seemed He'd failed
But in those days
He fought with might
And darkness fled
Confronted by light
His life so pure
Sacrificed for me
He gave it up
So we would be free
Endured the pain
The hate displayed
Through the torture
Willing He stayed
With compassion
Our sins He forgave
So we'd have life
His own He gave
He alone
Could cover sin
He gave up all
Can we let Him in?

Message of the Cross
Power of God
For those who are saved
Not words of man
But the wisdom He gave
Those who don't know
Think we've gone mad
They can't understand
What makes us so glad
They think we are foolish
To believe the story
That He gave us grace
Set us free in His glory
But still I have faith
I know it is true
I believe in the power
And His love too
Message of the cross
So mighty and real
Thank God for His mercy
And the joy that I feel
1 Corinthians 1:17-18

The Price
Jesus was sent as a baby
To one day die for you and me
For our sins He'd take the blame
Pay the price
With His very life
And cover over our sorrow and shame
But He did not have to pay the price
He had not sinned, why take His life?
And if He said the very word
Help would have come, it was assured
He prayed the cup would pass from Him
But still He knew why He had come
He chose to die
To give His life
To pay the ultimate
Sin-covering price
