I believe we all have something to say...a story to tell...a testimony. And I believe that each person's testimony can help someone else in some way. It's a witness to the world to know that we are human and go through things just like them but that we have a source of strength, of comfort, of hope, of peace...Christ Jesus. And they can have that too if they will only believe. It's a testimony to fellow believers that God is working in your life like He is in their lives. It's an encouragement, a support, to all who hear your testimony...and most importantly, it brings glory to God.

I have a story for you. This happened 6 or 7 years ago, so I do not
know all of the details.
I was about 5 years old at the time.
I was at my grandmother's house at the time and I passed out on the
floor between the kitchen and dining room. I was running a high fever and my
dad came to get me. He took me to the hospital to find out what had happened
to me. The doctors did not know what had happened to me. They told my dad
that the felt they should do a spinal tap, which can cause someone to be
paralyzed. He had been praying, but to no avail. He told me what they wanted to do. We prayed together. Within minutes, my fever was gone, and I was ready to go home. Praise God!

Well, I wasn't a gangbanger who was ripped out of a life of crime by a
minister, but for all have sinned and all need saving. I am the son of
a
preacher and a teacher, so when I mess up everyone on the planet it
seems
nicks at me for it.
Anyway, I was saved at the age of 7 at a revival,
but
not really sure I had a commitment. I had tried to beat my sister since
she
was saved at the age of 5. (Being a competitive youngster) But I went
off
and on (off when I would read my bible daily, on being when I did)
until
2-2-02 when I recommitted my life and committed it to full time duty to
the
ministry. I'm still not perfect, but I try. So that's I guess a plain
story
to some but a miraculous change to me.

My Sherry. My angel. She has helped me through a lot. Especially
my religion. Let me tell you the story of my Sherry. During Christmas
break of our junior year, Sherry was in a bad car wreck with two other
girls. She was hurt the worse. They had to rush her to Memphis for trauma
treatment. Her foot was banged up pretty bad and so was her leg and
back. They had to place a rod in her back and eventually her leg. Her leg
and foot are practically dead. She could still end up losing them this
very day! At the time of her accident, no one was really sure if she’d
make it. I was so devastated.
I still remember getting the e-mail. The very blunt statement:
Sherry was involved in a wreck the other day; they don’t know if she’ll
survive! I went crazy. I never realized how much your life could change
in the blink of an eye. I don’t know what hurt worse. The fact that she
was my best friend or the fact that it was the day after Christmas!
That next semester at school was so hard. Sherry wasn’t there, and we all
felt like we had lost our best friend. She sat next to me in Chemistry
the semester before. We did everything together. I wouldn’t have been
able to go to class without her being there. Out of all of her friends,
I think I stumbled the hardest.
Sherry was moved to the health center in Martin close to the time
we got out from Spring Break. One of my best friends, Julie, said, ”I’m going to see Sherry, wanna come?” I jumped on the opportunity! It had
been so long, I missed her so much! Sherry was so happy to see us. It
really surprised her. Her room was full of cards, balloons, gifts, and
things from home. Everyone there was really nice. Sherry couldn’t have
been more happier to show off her friends.
Even though she had already
been through a lot, she still had a long way to go. She underwent plenty of surgeries, I know. We got to watch the doctor
change all of her dressings and such that day we were there visiting. She
had so many places on her body! I couldn’t believe my eyes. I was so
proud of her though. She sat there and questioned every little nick. She
knew the condition that she was in... She knew what was to become
of her life from there on out. She was in the best of spirits.
One of her nurses told us that Sherry was truly a gift from God. I
believe in that to this very day. She’ll tell you that God wasn’t ready for
her to come home yet. And she was right.
Sherry will never be the same person. She knows this...and she
has the happiest life ever! All because of God!
Sherry was in another
wreck one day during band practice at school, the beginning of our
senior year. Some of the rods that were in her body broke, but nothing
real serious. She is still in great danger of losing parts of her body.
I’m glad she is able to understand this and not let it bother her.
I believe God left Sherry on this earth to preach His gospel to others.
She has reached me with her message. When Sherry goes to heaven, she
will be one of God’s angels.
I remember being there for Sherry when no
one else was. I remember going to one basketball game my junior year; she
was there! I sat with her all night. I did the same at my prom. She was
more important to me than anything else. She is back in school with
all of us now. She has gone from wearing a back-brace to being in a
wheelchair to now walking on crutches!
Her mom and all the people who have
helped her out this year will tell you one thing: you can’t hurt her
spirits. She has been through so much and still has the courage to smile.
I will always remember her. I will also always remember this one
little tidbit her mom told all of us one day at lunch: Sherry was
wearing her GC jacket the day of the wreck. It was the only thing not
damaged! I believe that was God’s blanket protecting her. Sherry is living
proof that God is alive. He is coming back to carry all of
us home.
I hope this story inspires someone to be saved today. Sherry is
not only my angel. She is also my inspiration... She led me to God!
