Yes, we love to go to Faire! Our home faire is the Texas Renaissance Festival, not too far north of Houston, although in 1997 we did make it to Scarborough Faire (considerably farther north of Houston) and hope to go again someday.
I first went to TRF when I was in high school, back when it was only about two years old. I was immediately hooked. I started wearing 'garb' my freshman year of college, and haven't missed a year since.
One of my favorite things is introducing the Faire to people who have never been. Like my husband, Rob, who went to Scarborough with me a week after we met, and was a good enough sport to wear tights the first day. As you can see from the photo above, his garb has evolved quite a bit since that first visit.
My daughter Taylor also loves the Renaissance Festival. Part of the attraction is that she gets to carry a sword, I'm sure. We bought her first 'real' sword when she was six. (All edges and pointy bits have been filed down, thankyouverymuch.)
