MY FRIENDS ON THE NET

A "PHOTO" ALBUM

Friends. What is the Internet without "friends"? In the short time that I've been "caught in the Net", I've made some wonderful friends. Some have become closer to me than others, but ALL are friends. In this particular section of "Caught in the Net", I will be displaying photos of my friends, and relating how we met. These photos have been re-printed with the permission of my friends (thanks, guys!).

Come. Meet my friends....

Like Jamie, I met Brian when he sent me a "fan letter" via the e-mail in late June-early July, 1997. In it, he stated how he had been a big fan of "Soose" since the very beginning, and that he wanted to thank me for the hours of enjoyment that he had received from reading the columns and touring "Sooseland". I wrote a response thanking him for the kind words.

It wasn't long before I received another e-mail from him in response to MY response. Each e-mail was a little longer than the one before it. According to Brian, he was surprised to hear from me, as he figured that I would not answer his fan letter. Why? I have NO idea. Anyway, our e-mails became longer an more frequent as time passed. It got so that we began to know each other pretty good.

At one point, we even talked on the phone for a couple of hours one day. And eventually, he recruited me to do his downloading and uploading for him, as he was feeling disenchanted with his homepage. Once I started downloading/uploading things for him, and giving him "tutorials" on how to install different things, his enthusiasm began to return.

I also introduced him to Laura of IACTA, and the creator of the NET4TV site (for which I also write) via the chat room. After a few weeks of chatting, he was recruited to write for NET4TV, and became one of the NET4TV team members. His "tutorials" for creating a home page on Tripod are VERY good!

Now, we talk via the e-mail at least 3 times a week--sometimes more. I STILL do his downloading and uploading, too, when he needs it. Yes, Brian has DEFINITELY become a best friend on the Internet. Perhaps we will meet some day. I hope so.

THANKS BRIAN!
