Friends. What is the Internet without "friends"? In the short time that I've been "caught in the Net", I've made some wonderful friends. Some have become closer to me than others, but ALL are friends. In this particular section of "Caught in the Net", I will be displaying photos of my friends, and relating how we met. These photos have been re-printed with the permission of my friends (thanks, guys!).
Come. Meet my friends....
Meet Lou. Lou was my first friend on the Net, and my first tutor. I met Lou in December, 1996, in one of those chat forums that I mentioned on the main page of this site. I learned from Lou that WEBTV people could make homepages, as he already had one when I met him!
Lou was VERY patient with me and my numerous questions--and I sure asked ALOT of them, too! Of course, some questions were more intelligent than others, but Lou answered them ALL to the best of his ability. He also gave me alot of moral support while I was learning things through "trial and error". He would cheer for me when I accomplished something or solved a problem, and he would encourage me when I just couldn't seem to get the grasp of something. Later, I found out that many of the things that I "discovered", he had just discovered days before me.
I don't hear from Lou much anymore. Occasionally, I will get an e-mail from him, but not very often. I STILL think of those early days, learning with Lou--neither of us quite sure as to what we were doing (because at THAT time, there were only a few WEBTV homepages, and only a few people were learning how to do one), but having alot of fun doing it. You might say that Lou and I were two of the "pioneers" of WEBTV homepages.
You know, its funny how things happen. Right after I finished writing the above about not hearing from Lou very often, I heard from Lou! He contacted me the day after I wrote this page. He now has a computer, but is still keeping his WEBTV. He downloaded ICQ (which I also have), and contacted me through that. I think I'll be hearing from him more often now.....
