Alas good things
"At Last"
"AND SMILE"
On Wings of Flight
These are the chronicles of the Harrier's travels. In case you are not familiar with the name Harrier, it is a member of the Hawk species.
First Flight
The Harrier flew from east to west
Another place he found to rest
New friends he met
His life it seemed now all set
He loved, he laughed and flew so high
Ever higher in the sky
And more and more the friendships grew
They never last
Back to the east he flew so fast
These few feathers are what he left
Please look at them from time to time
Remember, happiness you gave a friend
Another life he must now start
It was not the very end
Life must go on for all
As after it is said and done
We live and learn
And a brighter future lies ahead
My cries now echo
The skys again
The thermals raise me up
And I am free once more
The winter approaches
Its' bitter chill I feel
I hear a call, this time southwest
A destiny awaits me there
I'll search the past
And find some inner peace
Refuge from the Storm
The winds they blow, the sky is dark,
The clouds now form, edges tinged a liquid gold
I see the anvils climbing high
A vicious flash it rents the earth
The thunder roars the skys aglow
A desert storm upon us now
My wings grow weak
A sanctuary I must now seek.
I cast around a cave I see
I fly inside and find a perch
My eyes accustom to the gloom
Bats, Rattlers, Scorpions and Lizards I spy,
Though predators all are we
Tonight the storm
Our common enemy.
A place to hide from rain and hail
We all sought shelter deep inside
This old Peublo centuries old, has seen it all before
A truce tonight
For on the morrow
Life and Death
Go on once more
Festival
I see the mist begin to clear
The sun it too does now appear
The ground is damp but smells so clean
It's oh so quiet and so serene
A hustle a bustle
People come and shatter the peace
I wonder where the quietness gone.
My vantage point high in this tree
Gives me, supreme majesty.
I hear the roar the gases blow
I see them now, red, green, blue
Colors of every hue
The air grows warm, they stretch and grow
A different plumage they now do show
But none, can match that which I own.
Soon they will rise and fill the sky
A rainbow floating up on high.
I spread my wings and with a cry
Take off into the azure sky
I hear a shout, they point me out
These sharp eyes they see
The envy etched on faces far below
Oh how they wish they were me.
I feel a tickle on my wings
My thermals here so I must go
Around and round 'til out of sight
Now I look down
Past Dreams
Those chiselled features, copper skin
Hair as black as night
So noble
So proud
As she sits upright
I hear her thoughts they are so loud
She dreams of days so long ago
Here in New Mexico
Pictures in her mind I see
Hopi, Zuni and Apache
The Anasazi of Legend and Myth
Wall paintings other Petraglyphs.
She gently rocks
A smile her cheeks they crease as sleep arrives
Her mind at rest
To live out all those lives
