Let me introduce myself:My Name is Ralph F. Berrett, and I am your host here. I am the one who is responsible for the images you see here. Currently I work at a small daily newspaper in California. I have been capturing images since 1985. I have been involved in photography since high school and have used it to put myself through college. I wish to thank my old High School Photo Teacher David Eichinger. If not for him I would not be able to chase my dreams of light and darkness.

I started in Fine Art Photography then Commercial Art and now finally Photojournalism. My style is blend of these different disciplines. My photography tends to be drawn to intensity be it a fire or sporting event. I am not trying to change the world with my work but show a reflection of it.I hope my work gives the viewer a glimpse of what I see.

I try not to be to rigid in my shooting style. I believe if a person is to focused on a style or discipline he will miss the wonders before him. I love the arguments over format, Camera brand and style of photography. In the end they are all irreverent. All that matters is the final image.

To quote Nike "Image is everything". I wonder what the first Photographer in 1826 making his eight hour exposure of a tree outside his Paris window (see Eich I still remember), would think of today's tech. In many ways it is comparing the Wright brothers plane to a Space shuttle; yet the same basic principles that make a shuttle fly and glide safely home are the same that flew the plane at Kittyhawk.

The same is true of photography, same basic principles are that made that first camera work still makes today's cameras work be it silver or a magnetic disk they record on,
