12/28/99 Grey Area. How Grey? Charcoal? slate? Were in that goofy time slot; between Christmas and New Years day. I just had thursday anf Friday off, I'm taking this Thursday and Friday off, so my week is only three days long. I get next Monday the 3rd off as a vacation,m but I still have to design two Jordan Brand displays by the 10th! Yikes! I hope the world really does come to an end at the stroke of midnight Y2K! The freedom of designing is eclipsed by deadlines. Christmas is just how i like it: over! It was really tough to avoid being the Scrooge everything came down to the wire...money, shopping, mandatory appearances at the in-law feast, et al. I was up til 4am X-mas eve. wrapping, eating cookies, writing notes to the kids from Santa. But in the end it all came together, and the kids were pleased. The fiasco that almost sent me into a tailspin was one dealing with a printer I attempted to buy for the family. It was a pretty cool lookin' "H.P. Apollo P-1200" It was $80 at Fred Meyers and the sales guy insisted that it was compatible with my Macintosh. All I needed to get was a cable adapter. CompUSA had the adapter I needed for $100! So, the printer doesn't work...the gift is a complete bust. Friday morning we are going to the Tri-Cities to visit my folks. I better go...
