designer's block

Designer's block. Writer's block. Lack of inspiration. Slump. No matter what I call it I know the only cure is to work through it. But when your not batting 1,000, it's no fun stepping up to the plate. And after weeks of what I would call "strike-outs" today would be a base hit. A homerun would be nice after this drought... but I'll take what I can get and try to foster it into a streak.

Yesterday must have been pretty non-descript, because all I can recall is take-out Chinese food, and falling asleep on the floor in front of the TV (again).

This morning I must have slapped the snooze-button a half-dozen times before getting up (how did I get to bed after falling asleep on the floor?). Dang, gotta hurry to get ready. Shower, cereal for Calvin, out the door. I made it to work in record time and actually found a decent parking space! When I got to my cubicle the first thing I did was write "Something good is gonna happen today" in big red letters on my dry-erase board.

A heavy lunch, a side project from my boss and a few other distractions prevented continuing productivity, but that's okay. I've got momentum now.

Tonight is Monica's doll class night, time for me to be Mr. Mom for a few hours, maybe it will give me a chance to work on my freelance project while the kids are hypnotized by the Cartoon Network. Tuesdays by far are my busiest night of the week, with garbage day on Wednesday, I often find myself wrangling garbage into the "wee hours"...tonight will be no differen

I look at my dry-erase board, "Something good is gonna happen today", has it happened yet? no, but the day is not over yet, and I still feel optimistic.

Gathering no moss.
