"Ignorance is danerous, but knowledge without responsibility is more dangerous." -Bruce B. Clarck
3/31/99 -Back to the routine.
There's really nothing like a nice day off ; like yesterday. No cooking, dishes, diapers to change or fights over the TV remote control. Conversations with adults. Even Monica had a reprieve from a string of migraines, nausea, pnuemonia and flu that stretches back for litterally months.

As with all things good, you pay an inflated price for it in the end. I paid by having a pretty lousy day immedately after the good one was over. We got home from the concert late last night, and I immediately went to bed. This morning I woke up to the sound of the recycling truck, "GROAN....BEEEP BEEEP BEEEEP......THUNK"
"Damn, is it morning already? ...Is that the recycling truck? "
"Oh hell! I'm late and it's garbage day!"

I scamper like a chihuahua on linoleum - from room to room simultaneously collecting garbage, waking Calvin and preparing coffee... Empty the diaper pail, fill Mr. Coffee.
"Calvin, what kind of cereal do you want?"
"Uh.....pancakes."
"NO TIME CALVIN! you are having cereal!"
"Do we have any Eggos?"
"Apple Jacks or Frosted Mini-Wheats?"
"Do we have any oatmeal dad?"
"Apple Jacks it is."

I get to work and actually have a very productive day, although it is something of a mad-dash. Near the end of the work day I get a phone mail message:
"Ken ?....this is Kelley Slayton," NUTS! it's the freelance job I have been putting off forever! "I have been out of town, and I was wondering how the web page was coming along?"
I'll answer the message tommorrow.

When I get home, the house is trashed, Monica is laying on the couch...
Calvin greets me with, "Dad, Mom says we can go get some fried chicken at the store for dinner!"
Katie babbles something about , "Blue markers on the wall." (you don't want to know).
Monica tells me she has a bladder infection, or something like that, and that she is in horrible pain....again. After a dinner of store bought fried chicken, I start to do the dishes and thinking about the freelance job I have to finish....but maybe I'll finish them tommorrow, I'm startin' to get a sinus infection and I'm really tired.
Monica is already asleep on the couch, maybe I'll just close my eyes and just say I had every intention of cleaning the house, but, just kinda fell asleep.

no, really...I'm asleep.
