WELCOME TO XL FILES FREE CATALOGS LIBRARY

Would you like to know about contemporary Russian art from the right source? Here's the place. XL Gallery is one of the leading galleries that develop contemporary art in Russia (to know more about XL Gallery go www.oocities.org/SoHo/8070). Every exhibit is supplied with a catalog. Most of them are quite modest, few have color illustrations, but all of them are unique. They're printed in very limited editions of 500 copies, hand-bind and sometimes wrapped in custom silk-screen printed covers. Inside they usually have an essay by Elena Selina (XL Gallery curator and director), some lines by the exhibited artist and at least one essay by an invited art-critic and/or artist who analyse the exhibit shown.

Quotation:  "XL's catalogues have been particularly important given that there are no regular art magazines coming out in Russia... and they chronicle in a dispassionate manner the conflicts, rivalries and controversies of the Moscow avant-garde..."

('The Post-Bulldozer Generations' by Jamey Gambrell, Art in America, May 1995)

XL catalogs are available in three ways:

1. as printed matter - you send an e-mail message to XL Gallery and we'll tell you how you can get them

2. as .PDF (Adobe's Acrobat) file format, where each catalog is stored with all the font, color and layout information

3. as .HTM file format, simple and reliable.

To read PDF catalogs you'd need to download a free copy of Acrobat Reader from www.adobe.com
