Drinking

Drinking

You pour a drink.
You take a sip.
The caustic taste
flows past your lip.

It warms you up.
You start to grin.
You pour another.
This time it's gin.

More and more,
you toss them down.
You're feeling good.
Another round.

You slur your words.
You strain to talk.
You try to stand.
You cannot walk.

You make misakes.
You think you're fine.
The cop says "stand,
and walk this line."

The trust you had
you quickly lost.
A small mistake.
A mammoth cost.

A price you pay.
A night of fun.
The road to ruin
has now begun.
