Forgotten Friendship

Forgotten Friendship

A friendship forgotten
or thrown to the side.
The distance between us
has grown to be wide.

The moments we shared
now are all that remain.
Some filled with good times
yet others with pain.

An error on my part
for failing to see
the friendship I hoped for
was never to be.

I know now it's my fault.
I'm taking the blame
for not telling you then
that my thoughts were the same.

You told me your feelings,
but I was so blind.
I couldn't decipher
the code in my mind.

I've lost someone special
who's dear to my heart.
You'll always be with me
although we're apart.

I know you don't care now,
but if ever you do.
I want you to know
that I care about you.
