Inner Voice
Inner Voice
A revelation came to me
I found my inner voice.
It appeared in blissful sleep,
and gave me back my choice.
I'll no longer feel ashamed
or run and hide my face.
I'll refuse to race along
at someone else's pace.
Depression will not drag me down.
I'll stand up to the fight.
I will make the most of life
no matter wrong or right.
I will leave my past behind
and look to brighter times.
I will strive to reach my goals
and take on rougher climbs.
People will not drag me down
and tell me I'm no good.
I will not fight authority.
I'll do the things I should.
I'll greet each day with open arms
and take things as they come.
Small problems will not bother me
and make my senses numb.
I will try to understand
the views that others share.
I'll never look at other's fears
and act like I don't care.
A light has shone upon my life,
and given me a choice.
I'll live my life a different way
and utilize my voice.
