Nicolette Larson, a onetime protégé of Neil Young, died suddenly
this week.
The 45-year-old singer had a hit in the late '70s with Neil Young's "Lotta
Love," but she was also a prolific studio performer and backup singer.
Larson's full-bodied voice can be heard on a number of "L.A. rock" hits
from
Young; Crosby, Stills & Nash; the Eagles, etc. She had been married
for the
last seven years to drummer Russ Kunkel, James Taylor's best friend and
the
man Carly Simon once announced she was "engaged" to but never married
after Taylor himself remarried. The Kunkels have a 7-year-old daughter.
Nicolette, according to reports, died of liver failure and a buildup of
fluid on
the brain.
