I See Mama Dancing
If ever I forget what love doth mean
I think of my Mother
Dressed in emerald green.
I remember the smile she wore upon her beautiful face
And I feel once again the tender grace
With which she held her children in love's embrace.
I see her eyes sparkle in the face of my son,
Where the twinkle was so artfully kept,
And I can see Mama dancing again
In my daughter's elegant light step.
I even can hear her laughing, when with eyes closed,
I listen to myself in joyful repose.
And in times of trouble, in need of a friend,
Always I seek for her wisdom again.
Prayers and questions sent forth with the wind,
"Come soothe me, my dearest one, my Mother, my friend."
And she comes to cloak me with her comforting hands
As she visits me from the promised land.
