LEAVING

Leaving.Midi

Firey gold and crimson leaves,

Dancing the two-step with the breeze,

No longer clinging to the branches,

Leaving the sanctuary of the trees.

The trees swaying in the wind,

As if saying goodbye to a dear old friend,

Whispering a gentle farewell,

Knowing a new season will soon begin.

The couple stood in the doorway

She with tears in her eyes, he holding her hand.

She felt her life was almost over,

He thought his had once more began.

Later in the darkness of the night,

He whispered in her ear, as he held her tight,

"You were the best mother you could possible be,

Now let go a little and hold on to me."

She turned and looked into his tender face,

and could see the lines that time had traced.

Then within her husbands sheltering arms,

She knew that she'd been graced.

She had cherished them so, her little ones,

and the years had flown by so quickly,

Now they are strong enough to stand alone,

She hopes love will always bring them home.

To visit Dad and MOM.
