WELL!!!! Finally, i have a page up where you can view my very own celtic art. so! let me tell you a bit about my art. i started doing this art about 2 years ago, may 1997. i just sat down one night and copied a knot from a book. gradually, after doing more copies, i started to design my own knots. i worked on it all summer, and in the fall i took 2 1 day art courses by my Favourite artist and IDOL David Rankine. (see my Tribute to David Rankine) there i learned spirals and zoomorphics. i have been polishing my work for the past 2 years, and i think am progressing quite well. last august i was part of the London Celtic Gathering, and it was a blast. the weekend was one of the best of my life. i am looking forward to doing it again this year, so look for me there again. ! The Cetlic Gathering
i make it a point to paint for at least few mins each day, and sometimes i go for hours. i am also enjoying going to the Bealart program at HB Beal this year. it is an amazing art program, one of the best in the area, and nothing compares to our basement! even tho our facilities have diminished after the renovations (sounds a little backward, eh?) this year, it is still my favourite place to be, and there is almost no where else in the city where you can learn and use such a variety of processes and techniques. painting, 3D design, textiles, ceramics, film, animation, photography, printmaking, as well as drawing and art history are all the departments involved in the program.
I LOVE BEALART
mainly i work in acrylic, pen-and-ink, and pencil, but i have been experimenting lately with other mediums. i work in Avalon Studio, in my home, at all hours of the day :>0 i enjoy my art very much, it is what i live for. i know it sounds corny, but after discovering my art, i feel like ive found my way after being lost. LOL, i told you CORNY! my main influences are traditonal celtic sources, like The Book of Kells, and the Lindisfarne Gospels, and Contemporary celtic artists like David Rankine, Courteny Davis and Aiden Meehan.
here are some samples of my work. bear with me, some of them were scanned sideways, backwards and WRONG, when i was just learning to scan and upload. i know the whole Realm is in dire need of an UPDATE, but the art section is the first to recieve it so far. (priorties, priorites!) well, here we go. please feel free to let me know what you think (my comments stickypad is a little bare ;0()
Here are a couple of the colour postcards i had printed up for the Gathering last year.
here are another few postcards, black and white this time, also made for the Gathering.
these are some more recent designs, originally intended for silk dying in textiles class last quarter. they also appeared in our litterary magazine, The Ridge.
here is a random page from my last sketchbook

I would love to hear anybody's comments on my art, if you feel so inclined, you can leave a message on the special Art Comments Stickypad. *grin* here it is!
