(PRETZELS)
1 cake yeast
1 tbls sugar
1 1/2 cup water
4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
will need coarse salt also
dissolve yeast in water, add salt and sugar, blend in flour,
knead dough until smooth. cut into small pieces.
roll into ropes and twist into desired shape,i like to just
lay flat about 3in long. place on lightly greased cookie
sheets, brush pretzels with one beaten egg, sprinkle with
coarse salt. bake immediately at 425 degrees for 12 to
15 min. makes about 18 large pretzels, for hard pretzels,
use only 1 1/4 cups water and add 1/4 cup melted butter.
make pretzels smaller and bake until brown. they will keep
over a period of days, pretzel making is fun try it soon.
