Raymond Albert Smith, 75, Neillsville Wisconsin,
passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield Wis.
Feb 24 1996 at 3pm of natural causes.
Funeral servises will be 11am Wed. Feb. 28th 1996 at the United
Church of Christ in Neillsville Wis with the rev Gene Lackore officiation.
Pall bearers will be Mike Pekol, Rick Dimmit, Jeff Fitmaurice,
Butch Ehlers, Patrick Hughes and Bill Michelsen, burial will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.
The body lay in state on Tuesday from 6-8pm and again on
Wednesday on hour prior to service time at the church.
Raymond was born aug 14th, 1920 to Frank and Sadie(Yoder)Smith
in Kansas City, Mo. he married Winifred Duffey in 1947.
After her death he married Wanda Bottorff in 1955
. He received his education at Shawnee Mission, Kan.
During and after high school Ray worked as a carpenter
in the Kansas City area. In 1942, Ray enlisted into the
Army-Air Corps where he served with the Flying TCgers in china and Burma.
He also saw action in North Africa.
During his servise He received several commendations
and was the recipient of three purple hearts.
Ray was honorably discharged in 1946
and he returned to Kansas City and resumed his career as a carpenter.
He moved to Colby, Kan. in 1947 and married Winifred Duffey
and they had three children. She passed away in 1954.
In 1955, he met and married Wonda Bottorff and in 1957 they moved to the Neillsville Wis.
and they had three children.
Ray worked here as a independent finishing cappenter until he retired in 1982.
Ater his retirement he did smaller jobs,
spending more time doing things that he enjoyed.
He owned a cabin on the Chippewa Flowage and spent his time fishing
and remondeling the cabin. He also enjoyed deer
hunting and working around the farm.
The couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary
on Dec 31, 1995.

Mrs Mike (Dianna) Pekol of Neillsville Wis.
Mike and (Sally) Smith of Neillsville Wis.
David and Shirley Smith of Marshfield Wis.
Clifford Tony and (Sheri) Smith of Laredo Texas
Mark and (Tara) Smith of Milwaukee Wis.
Sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bea.
