The aroma of summer filled Phoebe's head as she
stepped onto her pourch for the last time. It was a hot day and the sun
shown brightly in the crystal blue sky. Phoebe
was dressed casual that day in a white tank top, cut off jean shorts, and
chunky
tan sandals. She was helping her family load
up the car for their move to Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Phoebe sighed and walked over to the car, sitting
her suitcase in the trunk. She sure was going to miss Tucson. She had lived
there her whole life and she was very attached
to her house, and friends. Yesterday, her friends threw a big going away
party
for her and she got lots of cool things to remember
her friends by.
Phoebe toyed with the long silver locket that
hung around her neck. Inside was a picture of her and her best friend.
Tears came
to her eyes as she thought about all the fun
times she had with her. She shook her head and tried to push those thoughts
away.
Phoebe's mom came outside with a few more suitcases.
"Are you almost ready, Phoebe?" She asked her daughter.
Phoebe looked down at the ground. "Yes, i'm ready.
My suitcase is in the trunk and my backpack is already in the car."
Georgia put her arm around her daughter. "Cheer
up hon. I know this must be hard for you, but it's just as hard for me.
I'm
going to miss our home too."
She gave Phoebe a sympathetic look. Phoebe sniffled.
"Yeah, i'm going to miss everything."
Georgia smiled. "Just keep your spirits up. I'm
sure you will love your new home in time. You'll see." With that, Georgia
walked
around the car to help Clarke with some more
things.
Phoebe got in the car. She sat down and thought
about how she was going to fix up her new room, once the moving truck got
there. Her mom and dad closed the trunk and got
into the car. "Buckle up Phoebe." Clarke said to her.
He started the car and slowly pulled out of the
driveway. Phoebe turned around and stared out the back window as all her
memories faded away into the distance.
Phoebe sat back down and opened her backbag. She
reached in and pulled out her portable cd player. She was about to listen
to Jewel, when she remembered something. Her
best friend had bought her a cd as her going away present. Phoebe dug
deeper into her backpack and pulled out the orange
cd. It was the Hanson cd. Phoebe had heard "MMMBop" and "Where's
The Love" before, but she had never bought the
cd. She liked their music and thought that the gift was perfect. Phoebe
tore all
the clear plastic wrap off and popped it in.
The song "Thinking Of You" filled her ears shortly after. She closed her
eyes. This
song reminded her of her best friend. She rested
her head on the back of her seat. Not long after, Phoebe had fallen asleep.
"I've been sitting here too long, by a man from
Milwaukee..." played along in her cd player. She had left her player on
the
whole time she slept. She jerked awake and quickly
stopped the music. Georgia turned around to look at her daughter.
"Oh, so you're awake now. Do you feel alright?"
She asked her.
Phoebe pushed her hair behind her ears. "Yeah,
I'm fine. I didn't get that much sleep last night though."
"Oh, well you need to rest then. We won't be
stopping for... Clarke where's the next rest stop at?" She asked her husband.
"About two hours away. We'll stop then and have
lunch. Is that okay with everyone?"
Georgia smiled and Phoebe nodded her head. Phoebe
looked out the window. Nothing but cars and trees. Taking the
interstate wasn't the best for sight seeing.
She sighed and closed her eyes once again.
The family had stopped for lunch as planed then
continued on their way to Tulsa. About twelve hours later, they arrived
in front
of their new home. Phoebe sretched and opened
up her car door. She got a sudden chill. It was kinda chilly here! Phoebe
was
used to warm weather of Arizona, so Oklahoma
felt a lot cooler. Her dad opened the trunk and she got her suitcase out.
Phoebe reached in and grabbed her blue Rusty
jacket. She slipped it on just as the moving truck arrived.
"Great, they made it on time!" Clarke exclaimed
as he went over to greet the movers. Georgia went over and unlocked the
door to the house, going inside to check everything
out. Phoebe watched as the movers started to unload their living room
furniture. Oh well this is boring, she thought
as she wanderd around the yard.
They had a huge yard with lots of bushes, plants,
flowers, and a beautiful Weeping Willow tree. Phoebe walked under the tree.
It was almost like a canopy of leaves. She loved
how the long vines swayed when the wind blew. Phoebe noticed that she had
neighbors and could tell by all the laughing
coming from the backyard. Hmm, she thought. I wonder what they're laughing
at.
She saw a boy of about fifteen pop his head over
the top of the gate. They both stared at each other for a moment, then
he left.
Phoebe was stunned. He was really cute. Suddenly
Phoebe had a better feeling about this trip. She ran back around to the
moving truck feeling a bit happier.
A few hours later all the furniture was in the
house. The movers had placed all of Phoebe's furniture in the places that
she had
designated for them to be. Out of the four bedrooms,
Phoebe decided on the one with the two baywindows, and the great view
of the Weeping Willow tree. She walked over and
sat down in the cushioned window. There were no curtains yet, but the ones
from Phoebe's old room would do just fine. She
looked out the window, and noticed that she could see their neighbors house.
Standing outside the gate now, were three boys
all with blond hair. Phoebe noticed the one boy that she had seen look
at her
over the gate. She un-hooked the latch on the
window and swung it open, just a bit. It made a creaking sound that caused
the
boys to look her way. On no, she thought feeling
embarrased. They're going to think I was spying on them. The smallest boy
walked over just under her window. Phoebe looked
down at him and smiled.
"Hi, what's your name?" He said as his brothers
walked up beside him.
"Um, my name is Phoebe Blue. What's yours?"
He smiled. "Your last name is Blue?" He asked.
Phoebe blushed. Why do I have to have such an
odd last name? She thought to herself. "Yes, that's right. Blue as in the
color."
He laughed.
"That's cool. My favorite color is blue."
Phoebe smiled. "So, what's your name?" She asked
him again.
"Oh yeah. Zac Hanson. And these are my brothers
Isaac and Taylor."
When he had finished telling her their names,
Phoebe felt a little shocked. Did he say Hanson? She asked herself. She
looked
back down at them. "Wait right here. I'll come
down and meet you guys the right way. Be there in a sec!" She said as she
closed the window and left her room in a hurry.
Phoebe ran down the stairs and out the front door, slowing up as she made
her
way over to Zac and his brothers. She pushed
her hair behind her ears and put her hand out to shake. "Ok, so you're
Issac,"
She shook his hand, then reached for Zac's, "you're
Zac," Phoebe then reached for Taylor's hand. He hadn't said anything yet.
He looked down at the ground and blushed a little.
"and Taylor." She shook his hand.
Isaac bumped Taylor's arm with his elbow. "Yes,
I'm Taylor. Nice to meet you..."
"Phoebe." She said finishing his sentence.
"That's a nice name." He replied simply.
Isaac rolled his eyes. "So where are you from?"
He asked her. "Oh, I'm from Tucson, Arizona." Phoebe replied to Isaac with
a
smile.
"Oh, so... why did you and your family move to
Tulsa?" Isaac continued to ask.
"Well, my mom and dad were working for a film
studio in Tucson that produces t.v. shows and things like that. Then the
company decided to relocate here to film an up
coming series. Alot of the crew members live here, so it was easier that
way."
Phoebe smiled when she was done.
"Wow! A t.v. show?" Zac exclaimed. "Yeah, it's
called "Ghost Stories" and Rip Torn hosts it. It's like a suspense, mystery
kinda show." She said to them.
"That's really cool! It must be neat being around
all that enviornment." Isaac commented to her.
"Yeah it's pretty cool." Phoebe looked at the
ground for a moment then asked, "So, what do you guys do?"
They all looked stunned. "You mean you don't
know who we are?" Taylor asked suddenly getting over his shyness.
Phoebe looked at them for a moment then it hit
her. They really were Hanson! She put her hands on her hips. "Wait... you
must
be Hanson! I didn't realize it until right now!"
She said excitedly.
They all laughed. "You're cool though. Most girls
would have just screamed or something. It's nice to have met you on a
non-Hanson matter." Isaac said laughing. Phoebe
laughed too.
"Yeah, you guys seem nice. And you can really
sing. I just got your cd for a present. I really like it. I listened to
it all the way
here." She said.
Taylor blushed a little again. Just then, Georgia
walked around the yard to get Phoebe for dinner. She smiled when she saw
that
Phoebe was talking to kids her age. "Oh hi mom.
What's up?"
"I just came to let you know that dinner is ready."
Georgia looked at the boys. "You kids look familar. Have we seen you
before?" She asked them.
They all laughed including Phoebe. "Yes mom,
they're the musical group Hanson. You know, the "MMMBop" song."
Georgia flashed a big smile. "Well, I just can't
believe it. She talks about the song all the time." She said to them.
"Mom," Phoebe said blushing. Georgia took the
hint.
"Well, it was nice meetting you boys. I'm sure
we'll see you around sometime." She turned and walked back around to the
front
porch.
Phoebe put her hands in her pockets. "Well, I
better go. It's nice to have talked to you guys."
Taylor smiled. "Hey, why don't you and your family
come over tonight and meet our family!" Zac exclaimed.
"Yeah, that would be nice!" Isaac said with a
smile.
Phoebe thought for a moment. "Sure, i'll let
my mom and dad know. What time?"
"Um, how about 7:30?" Zac asked.
"That sounds great. I'll see you guys then!"
She said as she trotted off to the porch.
"Bye!" Isaac and Zac yelled.
Phoebe turned around to wave at them. Taylor
waved and gave her a smile. Phoebe smiled back at him and then went into
the
house to get ready for dinner.
Phoebe twisted her pasta around her fork as her
mom and dad talked about their work schedule. Phoebe cleared her throat.
"Mom, Dad?" They both looked up.
"Yes, Phoebe?" Her mom asked her.
"Um, well, the boys I was talking to in the yard
asked if we would all come over and meet their family tonight. Is it ok
to go?"
Phoebe asked her parents.
Clarke and Georgia looked at each other. Her
dad nodded a "yes" to Georgia. "What time should we go over tonight?"
Georgia asked her.
"They said around 7:30."
Georgia looked at her watch. It read 6:00. "Alright,
Phoebe. That sounds fine. I would love to meet our new neighbors. Their
children look so polite." Georgia said with a
smile to Clarke. He smiled back.
"Phoebe, why don't you go ahead upstairs and
get yourself ready. We'll clean up the table." Clarke said to his daughter.
Phoebe smiled and excused herself from the table,
then headed up the stairs.
She walked in her room, wondering what to wear.
Phoebe had yet to unpack her clothes, so she picked up her suitcase and
rummaged through it. Phoebe's eyes glanced over
to her window and she realized that her curtains were not up. Phoebe
walked over to her moving box, and pulled out
the cream, yellow, and pale blue colored curtains. There were tiny daisies
sewn
around the edges of them. Phoebe hung her first
set of curtains, then her second. They fit perfectly. Phoebe smiled to
herself.
Her room was going to perfect.
Phoebe returned to her suitcase and dumped it
out on her bed. Luckily, she had packed it right, so that none of her clothes
were wrinkled. She decided on her Levi flares
with the butterflies around the edges, her matching yellow butterfly baby-t,
and
the sandals she already had on. Phoebe changed,
then went into her bathroom to do her hair. She parted it down the middle
and made two braides on either side of her head.
Except her bangs. She left them out. Phoebe liked her hair. She had been
growing out her bangs and they were just past
her chin. She smiled at her hairstyle. Phoebe then applied some makeup,
and
made sure that her locket was around her neck,
before she left the bathroom. On the way out of her room, Phoebe grabbed
her purse and shut the door.
By the time she had finished, it was 7:00. Phoebe
decided to watch a little t.v. while her parents finished getting ready.
She
flipped it on and started turning the channels.
She managed to find VH1 just as the "Where's The Love" video came on. She
smiled as she watched the video for the first
time. Phoebe had yet to have caught it on t.v. "Wow." She said aloud. She
watched Taylor sing in awe. He was so cute. Phoebe
thought to herself. She just loved his bright blue eyes. The video went
off,
and she went to the kitchen to get some candy.
Fifteen minutes later and the Blue family was ready to go. Clarke took
his
house key, and locked the door on the way out.
Phoebe had butterflies in her stomach as her mom rang the doorbell. She
felt a little nervous. The door opened and a woman with very long
blond hair smiled.
"Hi! You must be our new neighbors!" She
said with a smile. "My name is Diana and this is my husband, Walker."
Walker extended his hand for a shake. Diana
would have done the same, except she was holding her baby.
"Why don't you all come in." She said as they
made their way into the foyer.
"My what a lovely home you have Diana.
My name is Georgia and this is my husband Clarke and our daughter, Phoebe."
Diana smiled. "What a cute name you have
Phoebe! How old might you be?" She asked her.
Phoebe blushed a little. "I'm fifteen."
"Well it's nice to mett you Phoebe." She said
as she led them all into the living room. Walker and Clarke sat down
and her father went on to explain why they had moved to Oklahoma.
Diana excused herself and called up for Isaac, Taylor and Zac to come downstairs.
Two little girls and a little boy wandered into the room with them.
Phoebe looked shocked. How many kids do they have? She wondered.
Isaac spoke up. "Hey, Phoebe. Mr.
and Mrs. Blue."
Georgia and Clarke said hello and Isaac introduced
his younger siblings.
"This is Jessica, and she's nine. Here's
Avery and she's seven. And the little blond hyper child is Mackenzie.
But we call him Mackie."
Mackie smiled and grabbed Phoebe's leg.
"Mackie get off." Zac said as he picked up his
baby brother placing him on his shoulders. Taylor had been
staring at Phoebe the whole time. She looked up and met his gaze.
"Hi." She said to him.
"Hi." He replied.
She wished he would get over his shyness.
After everyone had talked for a bit, Isaac asked if Phoebe would like to
see their room. She nodded and followed them all upstairs.
Zac made his way by Isaac and opened the door with a "Tada!"
Phoebe laughed and stepped inside.
"Wow, you all share the same room?" She asked
in amazement.
"Yep!" Isaac replied with a smile.
"So, whose bed is this?" She asked pointing to
the bottom bunk.
"Oh, that's mine." Taylor replied shyly.
"Hmm, I should have guessed. Red bedspread."
Phoebe laughed and Taylor kinda chuckled.
"Yes, it's my favorite color." He said smiling
back at her.
Isaac just looked at Zac.
"Um, we'll be right back!" Isaac pulled Zac out
of the room and shut the door. Taylor turned and saw Isaac give him
a wink. Phoebe noticed this too, but pretended not to.
"Wonder what they had to do all of a sudden."
She said to Taylor.
"I think I heard my mom call them..." Taylor
said trying to come up with a reason. But he knew the reason.
And Phoebe did too. Taylor decided to get over his nervous, shy feeling
and really try to get to know her. He sat down on his bed and motioned
for Phoebe to join him. She walked over and sat down feeling a little
strange...
"I heard that you guys were about to go on tour..."
Taylor looked thoughtfully at her. "Yes,
we begin to tour in about a month. It will be fun, but sometimes
you miss your home."
Phoebe looked down at her shoes. "Yeah
I know what it feels like to miss your home and everything."
Taylor looked at her and smiled. "You miss
your old house, huh?" He asked her.
Phoebe felt tears come to her eyes. Taylor
noticed that and wished he had never said anything. A tear slid down
her cheek.
"I'm sorry. I should have known this was
a sensitive subject for you." Taylor said while putting his arm around
her shoulders. He felt sorry for her. And he hated the fact
that he had made her cry.
Phoebe wiped the tears away. "No, it's
ok. I just thought of my best friend. I'm going to really miss
her." Another fresh set of tears came to her eyes. Taylor reached
in his nightstand and gave her a tissue.
"Thanks." Phoebe said as she dried her eyes.
She picked up the end of the locket and held it in her hand.
"She gave me this before I left. Both of
our pictures are inside." Phoebe opened up the locket and showed it to
Taylor. He took the silver oval in his hand and looked at the picture.
"She looks like a nice person." Taylor commented,
closing up the locket before letting it drop back to her chest.
"Yes, she's a really nice person. I love
her like I would a sister." Phoebe stared at Taylor.
"You know what, when I am feeling down I go up
in our treehouse and think. Would you like to come up with me?
It might make you feel better." Taylor said hoping that she would say yes.
Phoebe smiled.
"That's sweet of you Taylor. Sure, that
would be nice."
He smiled and stood up. Phoebe put her
tissue in her pocket and followed Taylor down the stairs.
Taylor and Phoebe went into the living room to
let Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Blue know where they were going.
Taylor didn't see Isaac or Zac anywhere.
"Mom, where did Ike and Zac go?" He asked looking
around the room.
"Oh, Zac forgot that he had a birthday party
to go to tomorrow and he needed a gift. Isaac took him to the mall."
Diana looked at her watch.
"They should be back in an hour or so." She smiled
at Taylor.
"Ok, um, I'm going to show Phoebe our treehouse."
Taylor smiled.
"Ok, that's fine." Diana said, returning to her
conversation with Georgia.
"Alright, this way." Taylor led Phoebe through
their back door and out into the yard. He flipped the switch for
the back porch light, but nothing came on.
"Darn it! The light must have burnt out." Taylor
flipped the light switch up and down.
"That's ok. Do you have a flashlight?"
Phoebe asked.
"Uh yeah. Be right back!" Taylor turned
and ran into the garage.
"Aww, don't shine it in my eyes!" She said laughing
and covering up her face. Taylor quickly pointed it to the grond.
"Oh sorry." He blushed. "Um, ok this way."
Phoebe's eyes adjusted back to normal and she followed Taylor across the
huge yard. Taylor reached the far right corner of his yard and stopped.
Phoebe's eyes widened.
"Wow, I didn't even notice that you had a weeping
willow tree in your yard. That is a perfect place for a tree house!"
Taylor looked proud. "Yep, we liked it
because the tree house would look kinda hidden. And these branches
are great for climbing on." He patted a low branch with his hand.
"Well, shall I take you up?"
"Sure, let's go!" Phoebe followed Taylor up the
rope ladder hanging from the floor of the tree house. Taylor climbed
over the edge and turned to face Phoebe. He held out his hand and
helped pull her up.
"Thanks." She replied looking around the tree
house.
"This is really nice, Taylor!" Phoebe looked
at all the work and detail put into it. Taylor noticed that his brothers
had left one of their lanterns in the tree house. He found a match
and lit it. The light totally lit up the tree house. Phoebe
still couldn't get enough of it.
"I could never build a tree house this well."
She ran her fingertips around the edge.
"Sure you could. It just takes time and planning."
Taylor watched her admire the treehouse. Phoebe
reached out and grabbed a vine from the Weeping
Willow tree. She stared at it.
"When I was little, I used to think I could swing
on these like Tarzan. I even tried once. It didn't work that's for sure!"
Phoebe laughed.
Taylor smiled. "You must really like these trees
huh?" He said sitting down and resting his back against the tree. Phoebe
joined him.
"Yeah, I've always had a certain passion for
trees this beautiful. I can't explain it. I've always loved them." Phoebe
stared at the tree, then glanced up at the star filled velvet sky.
"Pretty night isn't it?" She said looking at
Taylor.
"Yep, it sure is." He said. Taylor leaned in
closer and pointed up at the sky.
"You see that very bright star?"
Phoebe looked at the sky. "Yes, I see it."
Taylor licked his lips then went on to explain.
"You see, that's not really a star afterall. It's a planet. Jupiter to
be exact." He looked back at Phoebe.
"Wow, really?"
"Yeah, and with a really nice telescope you can
see the Red Storm. Even though it's only the size of a grain of salt, but
you can see it." Taylor leaned back and continued to stare at Phoebe.
"That's really neat, Taylor. How do you know
that? Do you like all the stars and planets?"
Taylor laughed. "Yeah, besides music, looking
at the sky is one of my favorite things to do. I love learning new things
about it. There's so much out there that we don't even know about."
Phoebe was fasinated with Taylor's interest in
the sky. That made her like him even more.
"Maybe we can look at the stars one night together."
Taylor said turning more towards Phoebe.
"I would like that. Alot." She leaned closer
to him. Taylor blushed a little. Taylor reached over and brushed her bangs
out of her eyes. She turned her face and they kissed. Phoebe couldn't believe
this was happening to her. She really, really, liked Taylor Hanson. She
never wanted this night to end.
Taylor and Phoebe broke away from their kiss.
Phoebe smiled and blushed a little. Taylor did the same. It was almost
like they were meant for each other.
"We better go on back inside. It's getting kinda
late." Phoebe said staring at Taylor.
He was so mesmerized by her crystal blue eyes,
her rosy cheeks and the way the wind seemed to gently blow her bangs against
her face, that he didn't hear her the first time she spoke. Phoebe tilted
her head to make eye contact with him.
"Taylor?" Taylor jerked out of his trance. "I'm
sorry... what did you say?"
Phoebe smiled. "I said, we had better go back
inside. It's getting a little late."
She held up her watch.
"Oh, yeah... we need to go inside." Taylor stood
up, not acting like, well himself. Phoebe noticed this and hoped that the
way he was acting was because of a good thing.
"Taylor, are you alright?" She asked placing
her hand on his shoulder. He turned around. "Yes, I'm fine..." He trailed
off staring at her once again. Phoebe smiled and put her arms around his
waist, resting her head on his shoulder. She felt his arms wrap around
her and she smiled.
"Thank you Taylor for showing me your treehouse.
I feel a whole lot better."
Taylor smiled.
"Yeah, I feel pretty good too. Come on, let's
go back inside." He turned off the lantern and climbed down the ladder.
Taylor waited at the bottom, taking Phoebe's hand, once she was on the
ground.
The scene in the living room hadn't changed much
since they left and went outside. Walker and Clarke were still talking,
and Diana and Georgia were in the kitchen having a cup of coffee together.
Jessica, Avery and Mackie had been put to bed. Zac and Isaac were due home
any minute. Taylor walked into the kitchen.
"Hey mom."
"Hey. Are you finished showing Phoebe the treehouse?"
She asked with a smile. Georgia was smiling as well.
"Yes, we're finished." Taylor looked at Phoebe
and smiled.
"It's a very nice treehouse. I really love the
Weeping Willow that it's built in."
"Phoebe has always loved Weeping Willows." Georgia
said to Diana. "I think that's why she choose her room. It has a wonderful
view of our Weeping Willow." Diana smiled at Georgia.
"Yes, they are lovely trees. I made sure that
the boys didn't hammer any nails into ours." They both laughed. Phoebe
and Taylor kinda chuckled.
"Well, mom, we're going to go on up to my room.
Send Isaac and Zac up when they get home."
"Ok, I will." Diana smiled at them both. "Phoebe,
we'll be leaving in about an hour or so just to let you know."
"Ok, mom. That's fine." Phoebe smiled and followed
Taylor up to his room.
Taylor opened the door and Phoebe walked in first.
He's so nice, she thought to herself.
Taylor shut the door. Phoebe turned around to
face him. "So, what do you want to do?"
Taylor thought. "I don't know. What do you want
to do?"
Phoebe smiled. "Well, it might not be fun, but
I need some help with my room. Do you think you could come over to my house
and help me out for a little while?"
Taylor looked excited. "Sure! I would love to
help you!"
"Great! Ok, let's go back downstairs... and let
the parents know..." Phoebe and Taylor both laughed.
"Ok, just let me grab one thing." Taylor ran
over to his closet. He grabbed an older t-shirt.
"I better change my shirt just in case." He slipped
off his shirt.
Phoebe turned around and blushed. Taylor put
his other shirt on and walked back over to her.
Phoebe smiled and she knew she was still blushing.
"Ok, I'm done." Taylor said noticing Phoebe's
flushed face. "Are you hot or something?" He knew
very well why she was blushing.
Phoebe brushed her bangs out of her face. "No,
no. I'm fine. Ready to go?"
Taylor smiled. "Sure. Come on." He took her hand
and they left the room.
Five minutes later, and Phoebe and Taylor found
themselves opening up her front door.
"We don't have everything organized yet, so it
might be a little messy." Phoebe opened up the door
and stepped in.
"It is so weird to see this house like this."
Taylor said looking around.
"Why is that?" Phoebe questioned.
"Oh, we were good friends with the family that
used to live here. It's just... weird. Do you know what I mean?" Taylor
asked.
"Yeah, I do." Phoebe thought about her old house
for a second then pushed those memories away.
"Come on. I'll show you my room now. Can you
grab that box for me?"
"Sure." Taylor picked up the box marked, Phoebe's
Room.
Phoebe picked up another box that was to go in
her room.
"Alright, this way." She ran up the stairs followed
close by Taylor. Phoebe walked by the bathroom and her parents room until
she came to hers. She opened the door and sat the box down.
"Yeah, this is a great room." Taylor said, carefully
putting the slightly heavy box down by her bed.
"I like the curtains." He said, admiring the
rest of her room.
"Oh, thanks. I like them alot."
"So, what do we do first?" He asked her rubbing
his hands together anxiously.
"Well, I need some help getting all my clothes
put away. I have alot..." She said trailing off as she
pulled out a huge box and opened up.
"Here's some." Phoebe turned to get another box.
"Some?" Taylor said looking in the box. "You
have alot of clothes!"
Phoebe flashed him a smile and opened up yet
another large box.
"Ok, that's it besides these clothes on my bed."
Taylor laughed. "Ok, so what goes where?"
Phoebe put her hands on her hips. "Ok, I think
all my jeans, sweaters, and t-shirts are to go in the closet. Shorts, and
other small things go in the dresser."
"Ok, cool." Taylor dumped the box out onto the
floor. Phoebe did the same to her box. He started making piles. One for
pants, one for sweaters, and one for t-shirts. Phoebe luckily, had her
box with all her night clothes and "other" items in it. She quickly put
them away.
"Hey, where are your hangers?"
"Oh, they are in a box in the closet." Phoebe
said while folding some shorts.
Taylor started hanging up her pants. About an
hour later, they were done with the clothes. Clarke and Georgia had come
home and reported to Taylor that he had to be back home by midnight. Taylor
was enjoying himself alot. He felt really comfortable around her and liked
her more every minute. Phoebe felt the same way. She would catch Taylor
staring at her. He blushed really bad when she had raised her arms and
part of her stomach shone. Phoebe guessed that Taylor was a sensitive guy,
who hadn't really had alot of girlfriends. She liked that about him.
"Ok, so where do you want this?" Taylor held
up yellow bean bag.
"Just sit it over by my floor lamp." Phoebe smiled
and walked over to him.
"Thanks alot for helping me."
Taylor blushed a little. He sure can blush easily,
she thought to herself.
"Well, it was no problem. I wanted to help you."
Taylor sat in the bean bag and then stood up.
"There ya go. I made you a spot to sit in." He
smiled.
Phoebe laughed. "I have another bean bag. It
might be downstairs. I'll go get it."
Phoebe turned and left the room. Taylor heard
her go down the stairs. He stuck his hands in his pockets and walked around
the room. Taylor made his way over to her dresser. Hmm, what does she have
in here? Taylor wondered while pulling out the drawer. His mouth dropped
open. How many bras does she have?? He asked himself in amazement. Taylor
picked up a blue bra and examined it. A few seconds later, he heard Phoebe
coming back up the stairs. He quickly shoved the bra back in the drawer
and sat on her bed, just as she walked in the room.
"Look, I found it!" Phoebe said, holding up her
bright orange bean bag.
"Great!" Taylor exclaimed looking back at the
ground.
Phoebe walked over to her lamp, and sat the bean
bag down next to her other one.
"Want to sit with me for a minute?" She asked
patting the other bean bag.
Taylor smiled and joined her on the floor.
"We can probably call it quits for tonight. We've
done alot." Phoebe said.
"Ok, that's cool. What do you want to do now?"
Taylor asked.
Phoebe looked at her watch. "It's just now eleven,
so we have a whole hour."
Taylor looked at Phoebe. She sighed.
"Taylor can I ask you a question?"
He sat up straight. "Yeah sure. Shoot."
"What did that kiss mean in the tree house?"
Taylor blushed. "What do you think it meant?"
"Well, maybe that we like each other?" She suggested.
"Yeah, I agree. Did you like it?" He asked.
This time Phoebe blushed. "Yeah I did. Did you?"
She returned the question.
"I did. Alot." Taylor moved closer to Phoebe.
She felt her heart beat a little faster.
"Would you ever want to kiss me again?" She asked
suddenly feeling a little warm.
"Yeah." Taylor was now off his bean bag and sitting
on the floor beside her.
"Would you want to kiss me now?" Phoebe asked
hoping that he would say yes.
Instead of an answer Taylor leaned over and kissed
her. They pulled away. They were both smiling.
He was about to say something when there was
a knock at the door.
Phoebe jumped up and opened the door. "Hey mom.
What is it?"
Her mom looked around once and then back to Phoebe.
"I was just seeing how the room was coming along.
Looks good so far." She smiled at her daughter and at Taylor. He smiled
back.
"Well, we're almost finished. I'll be down in
a few." Phoebe told her mother.
"Alrighty. Well, your father and I will be in
our room if you need us."
"Ok, mom." Phoebe left the door open and turned
to face Taylor.
She heard her mother close her bedroom door.
Taylor walked over to Phoebe and kissed her once again. She was surprised
he did that.
"I'd better go. If you need anymore help tomorrow,
then just ask. I loved tonight."
Phoebe smiled. "Alright. Thanks again Taylor."
She gave him a hug.
"I'll walk you to the door." She turned off her
light and walked with Taylor down the stairs. She opened up the front door.
"Well, goodnight Phoebe."
"Goodnight Taylor." He stared at her. Taylor
hugged her again.
"I'll see you tomorrow." Taylor walked out into
her yard and waved. When he left her sight, Phoebe closed the door.
