Phoebe looked out her window and up at the moon.
It was so pretty that night. Judy joined her in the window seat, and gazed
at it with her.
"What's wrong Phoebe?"
"Nothing..."
"Yes, something is bothering you. What?" Judy
propped her feet up and prepared to paint her toenails.
"I don't know...I just feel sad all of a sudden.
You're leaving in four days...Taylor's leaving in three. What am I going
to do
without you both?" She stared back out the window.
"I have no idea what to tell you. He'll be back
though! And you can always visit me."
"I know that. But...this is so hard for me. Just
seeing you here, with me, has made me miss Tucson all over again! Like
the very
first time..." Phoebe stared at her.
"Same here! It wasn't easy knowing that I get
to see you, and then I have to leave and go back home. It's harder having
your
best friend just up and move away from you, than
it is leaving on your own." Judy dropped her foot down to let it dry.
"Yeah...well, maybe it is." She looked over at
the Hanson home. She could see somone sitting in their bedroom. It looked
like
Taylor.
"Hey, is that Taylor?" Judy asked, looking as
well.
"Maybe...hand me something to throw."
"Um...like what?"
Phoebe hopped up and ran over to her desk.
"I want to knock on the window to get his attention.
It's a bit late to call."
"Oh ok. I would help, but I don't want to ruin
your carpet." Judy wiggled her feet around in the air. Her fresh coat of
blue nail
polish wasn't dry yet.
Phoebe grabbed some marbles that she had in a
drawer.
"Found something!" She ran back over to the seat.
"Won't those break the window?"
"Nah, they shouldn't." Phoebe swung her window
open and scooted out a little more.
"Ok, I hope I hit it." She took aim and threw
one. Missed.
"That was way off. Let me try!" Judy grabbed
a marble and tossed it out the window. She came a little closer. Phoebe
threw
one, and missed again. Judy threw one and missed.
This was frustrating.
Taylor looked up from the computer screen. He
thought he heard something. He listened, and then shrugged it off. Another
noise. And another, and another.
"What the heck?" He stood up and walked over
to his window.
"Ok, last try. Hit it Phoebe...we are getting
low on marbles."
Phoebe took aim again, and threw the marble...just
as the window opened.
"Ahh!!" Taylor jumped back, tripped and fell
on his butt.
"Oh my gosh! I hit Taylor in the head!" Phoebe
leaned out the window. "Taylor! Are you ok?"
Taylor rubbed his forehead where the marble hit.
He could hear Phoebe calling him.
He reached the window and leaned out.
"What?"
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah...why are you throwing marbles at me?"
"I was actually trying to hit the window to get
your attention."
He smiled. "So that's what I have been hearing.
You have bad aim!" He laughed.
"Haha...so, what's up?"
"Not much...Maddy's over."
"Oh cool! What are you all doing?"
"Be right back...I have to get my glitter." Judy
walked on her heels over to her purse.
"They are watching a movie."
"Just Maddy and Ike?" Phoebe asked, with a smile.
"Yeppers...Zac is asleep."
"So, you have nothing to do then?"
"Yeah. I'm bored." Taylor sighed.
"Well...want to come over here?"
Judy looked up. "Yeah baby...good idea." She
winked.
"Oh stop it..." Phoebe whispered to her.
Taylor looked over at Zac. "Yeah sure. How can
I get there?"
"Um...well, can you climb over?" Judy laughed
at that.
"Ok...I'll try!" Taylor leaned out the window
and put his foot on the branch. Then he started making his way to her.
"Ok, he's coming now."
"Now?!" Judy jumped up and hopped to the bathroom.
"Where are you going?"
"To get my shorts on." Judy was in a long nightshirt
and that was it.
"Ah, ok. Good call." Phoebe turned back around
and Taylor was there.
"Oh, hello stranger." He gave her a kiss. "Help
me in."
Judy walked back out a minute later and found
them sitting on the bed.
"Hey!" She sat down by Phoebe.
"Hellooooo." He smiled.
"So, what shall we do?" He asked them.
"I don't know...what do you want to do Judy?"
She shrugged. "You pick something."
Phoebe looked at Taylor. "I have no clue."
"Well, we'll think of something."
They all sat there quiet for a few minutes.
"I know!" Judy jumped off the bed.
"What? What?"
"Let's make prank phone calls!" She giggled.
Phoebe laughed. "Ok! Want to Tay?"
He nodded. "I haven't done that in a long time."
Phoebe picked up her phone and sat it on the
bed.
"This should be fun."
"Wow, that was a good movie." Maddy stood up and
stretched.
"Yeah, it was. Gus Van Sant did a great job.
He's a cool director." Isaac said, standing up with her.
"You would know too." She smiled.
"Yes, I would. Want something to drink?" Isaac
headed into the kitchen.
"Sure, that would be great."
Isaac poured them two glasses of soda and sat
down at the table.
"Thanks for asking me over here. It was better
than staying with Joey the whole night." She laughed.
"Hmm, well...Zac wouldn't mind that. He's got
a crush on her...that's for sure."
Maddy smiled. "Yeah, the same for Joey. Aren't
they so cute together?"
"I guess..." Isaac rolled his eyes and laughed.
"Anyways..." Maddy made a face back. "...I heard
you are leaving in three days."
He sighed a little. "Yep...off for the tour."
"It's hard to leave home, isn't it?" She asked.
"It gets old sometimes. But, we love getting
back out there and performing. It's just in us. I miss that a lot." He
took a sip of his
soda. "I'm going to miss home even more now though.
I've had a great summer so far."
"Me too. I'm so glad that we got to know each
other better."
Isaac grinned. "You are so pretty. I'm sure you
hear that all the time though, right?"
Maddy blushed. "Yeah...all the time." She rolled
her eyes at that. "Thanks for the compliment. You know how to make me
blush." She covered up her cheeks and smiled.
"I mean it though. I'm going to miss you a lot."
"Same goes for me. I'll be very excited when
you come home." Maddy looked at her watch. "And speaking of homes, I should
be getting back to mine." She stood up and brought
her glass to the sink.
Isaac got her purse for her, and walked to the
door.
"Thanks again for a great night." Maddy gave
him a kiss.
"Thank you..." Isaac turned a little red.
She walked down the driveway and to her car.
"I'll call you tomorrow!" She yelled with a wave.
"Alright! Talk to you then!" He waved back and
shut the door...hearing her drive away.
Judy picked another number out of the phone book.
Taylor dialed and waited for someone to answer.
"You know what to say..." Phoebe giggled and
listened.
"Hello?"
Taylor cleared his throat. "Hi there."
"Who's this?" A confused woman asked.
"I'm your dream man. I want you to play my conga
drums!" Taylor slammed the phone down and fell on the floor laughing.
"That was great!" Phoebe fell on the floor beside
him.
Judy was laughing so hard, she almost spit out
her gum. "You have a lot of nerve!" She managed to squeek out.
"I'm the man!" Taylor raised his arms in the
air and laughed.
"Ok, ok...your turn Judy!" Phoebe got control
of herself and picked up the phone book. She thumbed through and picked
out
a number.
"This one." She pointed into the book. Judy nodded
and dialed.
It rang one time, and then a guy picked up the
phone.
"Hello?" He asked.
Judy giggled a little. "Hi...I would like a large
pizza, with extra cheese please." She covered up the phone and laughed.
"Sure...and should I send it to the BLUE residence?"
Judy stopped laughing.
"...what?"
"I said...should I send it to the BLUE residence?"
Judy dropped the phone.
"He knows your last name Phoebe!"
"What??" Phoebe turned a little pale and Taylor
hung up the phone.
"How does he know my last name!?"
"Calm down...he probably has caller I.D. or something."
Taylor said, pulling her back to the ground with him.
The phone rang.
Judy quickly picked it up.
"Hello?" She asked...a little freaked out.
"I need your address if you want me to deliver
your pizza."
Judy slammed the phone down. "It's the freaky
guy!"
The phone rang again.
"Answer it Taylor!" Phoebe shoved the phone over
to him.
"...Hello..."
"Did you want extra cheese with that pizza?"
The guy asked.
"We don't want a pizza." Taylor said.
"Sure you do...that's why you called me, right?"
Taylor looked around the room. He covered up
the phone. "This is a funky guy. Great choice in numbers Phoebe!" He
whispered.
"Hey! How could I have known?" She frowned a
little.
"Listen...we are sorry ok? Bye."
"Don't hang up the phone."
"Why not?" Now Taylor looked a little freaked
out.
"I want to know your name..."
"Yeah, sure." Taylor hung up the phone.
It rang again.
Judy was on the verge of tears. "This was a stupid
idea!" She picked up the phone.
"Listen, just leave us alone! It was a joke!"
She yelled into the receiver.
"Look out your window."
Judy lost all the color that was in her face.
"He said to look out the window!" She whispered.
Taylor and Phoebe jumped up. "This has to be
a joke!" They ran over to the window.
"I can see your friends." He said into the phone.
Judy joined them at the window, the phone still
up to her ear.
"Where are you?" She asked, almost a whisper.
"Can't you see me?"
They all looked...but saw no one. Taylor shrugged.
"I can't see you."
He laughed. "I'm right in front of your faces."
Phoebe looked out the window again. "This dude
is a wacko. He's just yanking our chain." She sat down in the window seat.
"I don't know...ask him what we look like." Taylor
told Judy.
"If you can see us...what do we look like then?"
"Well...I know you have blonde hair."
Judy threw the phone across the room.
"AHHH!!!" She yelled and ran to the bed.
"What?!"
"He knows my hair color!" She covered up with
Phoebe's bedspread.
Taylor ran over and picked up the phone.
"I'm still here...Taylor." The guy said to him.
Taylor looked around.
"How do you know my name?" He asked, his voice
shaking a little.
"Because...I live with you."
Taylor stopped breathing. He ran over to the
window and looked at his bedroom. Sure enough, Isaac was standing there
with
the phone.
"Isaac! You jerk!" He screamed.
"I got you!!!" Isaac laughed and laughed. Taylor
hung up the phone in disgust.
"We called my house!"
Judy peeked out from the bedspread. "No we didn't!"
Phoebe ran over to the phone book and looked
where she had marked the number off with a pen. She laughed when she saw
it.
"We must have pushed a wrong number...this phone
number is one away from being yours." She brought the book to Taylor.
The very last digit in the number in the book,
was the only thing making that number and the Hanson's home number different.
When Isaac had closed the door from saying goodbye
to Maddy, the phone rang a few minutes later. He, of course, saw the
name "Blue" on the caller I.D. and had decided
to mess around with them. Put the shoe on the other foot for a change.
"Ugh, this is just great. He's never going to
let this one go!" Taylor paced around the room.
"How did he make his voice so deep?" Phoebe asked.
"Who knows..." He shook his head.
Judy started laughing.
"What's so funny?" He asked her.
"Nothing...it's just that we fell for that so
easy!"
Phoebe smiled. Yeah, they really did fall for
that one.
Taylor laughed a little and walked back to the
window. He looked out and sighed. Isaac always got the last laugh.
Well...maybe this time.
When Taylor went home that night, it was the last
time that she would see him before he left. And she knew it too. She watched
him go back into his window and wave. She waved
back. Then he turned off his light. She sighed and closed the curtain.
Time
with Tayor was ending...he would be gone soon.
