Up untill the Nagano Olympics, one would not have considered Hasek's top level statistics as "legendary". But his gold medal preformances in the NHL in the late 90's bolstered his confidence at the international level so much that in 1998 he put on one of the great goaltending clinics of all time, and became the number 1 Czech sporting hero of all time in the process.
