When Jari Kurri retired from the NHL, he was not only the top scoring Finn in the League's history, he was not only the top scoring European in the League's history, with 601 regular season goals, he was the highest scoring non-Canadian ever to play the game.
With such credentials, you might assume by his top level statistics that he was a real let down when he played for Team Suomi. You would of course be wrong. He was the very heart and soul of the Finnish sides, and quite often the only player on the team worth mentioning.
Finland has had the least success of the big 6 hockey nations in top level competion, but they can always point to Kurri as their triumph in the pros.
