This is probably the most heated rivalry because it's history transends hockey, back to 1968, when the USSR invaded Czechoslovakia. The World Championship and Olympic matches of the late 60's and early 70's rivaled any Canada-USSR match in terms of bad-blood, on and off the ice. The tradition has continued into the 90's by the two remaining remnants of each country, Russia and the Czech Rep., and the series is now as close as ever.
