Wow!
Here in the Heart of Texas, we just now were able to see the fourth season premiere, and DANG!! I was blown out of the saddle! Brilliant! Bravo!
I'm gonna gripe here: It's great that XWP was nominated for two Emmys, but "Best Music" and "Best Lyrics?" C'mon! There is such genius in all of the writing, directing, and acting on this show! I mean, pleeeze! Oh, I forgot -- to win an Emmy, you've got to do a show about neurotic people with no self-esteem, addictions, and dysfunctions, and every sweeps period, you produce a "very special" episode about some trendy, politically correct issue. Oh, well...
Back to the enrapturing, swept-away, feeling I got from this episode: Yeeeeeeeeha!! Fabulous dialogue! Great acting! And the directing: somebody give T.J. Scott a see-gar! I LOVE the corkscrew-through-the-cave dolly shot! And the aerial, sweeping vista shots! Man!
And the locations: The Amazon Land of the Dead, the Battle With the Berserker -- Is all of that New Zealand?!? I'm proud of my Native-Texanhood, but you Kiwis have a magnificent country! I intend to visit it soon.
This thing was better than most theatrical releases! This was a fantastic piece of visual art, and I tip my horns to everyone involved. Keep it up. Keep crashing through the boundaries of what we normally see on television. Yeeeeeeeeeeha!!
