ONCE UPON A XENAVERSE

Once upon a Xenaverse there was a Christmas colored Princess who lived in a wonderful kingdom where there was much to do and many different types of people. Some were young, some were old, some were rich and some poor. All of the people who lived in this kingdom loved to talk. Some talked of their passion for a certain legendary heroine and some played the jester making people laugh. Others spun enchanting tales and shared them with their fellow subjects. All were different, yet all were the same, every one being very happy to be living in this great kingdom and each was much beloved by the Princess. Every day the Princess would walk
through her kingdom and spend time with the people who lived there. She very much enjoyed their company and usually lingered among the storytellers and poets for she knew their creativity was a magical thing. She would listen for hours to heart written verse and sat entranced as the bards wove mystical spells telling their stories. Occasionally she would join in a conversation or two about the kingdom itself, the other legendary princess whom they all held in highest regards, and sometimes she would even share a bit of gossip.

The kingdom was a very happy and fulfilling place to live until one fateful day when something terrible happened. An evil spirit descended upon the land and walked its avenues casting a wicked spell on many who dwelled there. And although this devil did not claim all of her subjects its presence cast a dark shadow which cloaked the realm. Where once there was laughter and joy now only pain and sorrow dwelled. Where once there was friendship and love, now there was only anger and deception. Sadly, this evil spirit touched the hearts of the Princess and all of the kingdom’s inhabitants. No longer did they live merrily. No longer did they enjoy each other’s company. No longer were they united.

The Princess was very disheartened by this turn of events. She wanted this evil spirit to be be gone but did not know how to get rid of it. It possessed all of them setting friend against friend driving them apart. Not understanding how such a dreadful thing could happen, the Princess became deeply saddened. She retreated into her palace and hid, only showing herself on rare occasions. She became very much afraid that some of her subjects would move away and go to live in a better place and she could not bear the loss of even one. She spent much time pondering a way to exorcise this demon and make things right once again. Having a creative spirit herself, she even wrote a poem about it and had it displayed in the town square for all of her loyal subjects to read. Not wishing to hurt their feelings she had incorporated her great wit into the verse in an effort to alert them to the dark one’s existence. And although many read her poem, only a few heard her words.

Finally the Princess emerged from her seclusion and walked once again among her beloved people. She became even more dismayed as she lurked in the shadows listening in on their conversations. Many were saying that that what they believed in was the one and only way to live and cruelly berated others for believing differently. Others had donned disguises and infiltrated happy gatherings, rudely voicing their feelings in an attempt to hurt people who were once their friends. Those that the demon already possessed began to set fires throughout the kingdom because they thought that by doing this the realm would be cleansed of the ones who did not agree with their point of view. The flames rose rapidly and spread from place to place consuming all in their path. The Princess saw the brilliant blaze reflected in the eyes of many and her heart broke.

In a desperate attempt to save her kingdom, she took up a bucket, filled it with water and threw the liquid on the flames trying to extinguish the growing inferno. But, alas, her efforts were in vain. She cried out, “Please, somebody help me put out this fire!”. Suddenly, one loyal subject was at her side. She filled the bucket, passed it to him and he threw the cooling fluid at the fiery blaze. Shortly, another of her friends came and joined in, and then another and another until soon a brigade was formed and they were making progress, but still they were unable to douse the flames completely. Despondent, they realized that they needed help, much more help.

Will you help them extinguish the flames?

The End? Only you can write that.
