Pak1, about your subtext post

And welcome to the netforum.

I saw your post and was drawn to it out of a morbid sense of curiosity. I am a heterosexual
and a huge fan of the show. When I saw your post, I have to admit, I thought, Here we go again!
Another Net-forum war.

I am glad that it was not a post to incite hateful banter.

Your question, however, regarding the relationship between Xena & Gabs has been argued
and supported for quite some time.

For what it's worth, Lucy Lawless has mentioned in some of her interviews that the
subtext has just sort of taken on a life of it's own.

Recently, (October) Lucy was on the Conan O'Brien show and the question was asked of her
about the "Lesbian" issue. Her reply to it was that among the subtext fans, and
in particular the ones at the Meow-Mix, would watch the episode on their "Xena-nights" and
then act them out to their "Preferred" conclusions.

Lucy herself is Heterosexual as is Renee.

Tapert is no fool. The shows ratings have skyrocketed with the subtext fans.
There are gays who work on the actual show such as Liz Friedman. So
I'm sure there will be subtext & inuendos for as long as the show airs.

Also, it is worth mentioning that women have always had relationships which
are by their very nature, more intimate than any two heterosexual men would
ever consider having. Women are just better equipped emotionally to have these
intimacies with out being lesbians.

Both Xena & Gabrielle's characters have had heterosexual relationships and
Xena had a child from such a union. Gabby's child is of questionable origin
yet she did have a heterosexual marraige.
