<> This is why...

...I hate serious episodes. I didn't any concrete reason for hating them until I saw "Maternal Instincts". Let me explain why.

For one thing, I watch X:WP to ESCAPE reality. I mean, this is a show about gods and goddesses, mythology, ancient Greece. This is a fantasy show, not grounded very much into reality, with the exceptions of the occasional real people (Cleopatra, Caesar, etc.). It's an escape for me from the crap that real life can bring. Children do die in real life. Parents have been known to kill their children. But I don't want to see that. It's horrible to think that it could happen, and I don't like it being portrayed on the show. The episode left me with a very bitter taste, the worst since "The Dirty Half Dozen". It makes me afraid for "Bitter Suite".

That's why I love comic episodes (and in return Joxer). They're an escape from real-life horrors. They make you laugh at things that don't normally happen. "Been There Done That", for instance, could only happen in the movies. So could "The Xena Scrolls". That's what I like. Something that makes me laugh at life, and know it can't happen. I would prefer 800 viewings of "King of Assassins" or "Quill is Mightier" to MI any day.

I do like serious episodes if they have some fantasy to them. I like "The Furies", for example, but at least it had a lot of comedy. MI had just one or two comic moments, and no fantasy except for the Centaurs. I don't like that very much.

Plus, this was the only rift episode I hated. "The Deliverer" was okay, and the Arthur reference was the best part. "Gabrielle's Hope" was loveable (and so was the baby when it wasn't killing). This episode just left me cold as Alaska.

I vote for more comic episodes. This episode just left me in a very bad mood. There was only one good thing: Thank God they didn't have Velaska!!!!!!!!!

A very melancholy trfan
