I am very dissapointed in what has become of my (once) favorite show.
I have watched for weeks and weeks waiting for some sign of hope, and
I can't help but feel there is little. This started with the rift arc
and has not ended. I was shocked at how they (the writers) had Xena
over-react, and with the many (at the time) inconsistencies and lack of
explanation. With the Bitter Suite, I was happy, but it seemed like
the worst ending to the hard times between Xena and Gabrielle. If they
writers wanted to tear them apart, and have all the drama, then they
should have made it last for several episodes. After that, when I saw
One Against an Army (?), I was shocked by the stupid story line...the
fact that Xena would fight all the warriors alone. She hides in a barn
and flips the doors open, then all the sudden the army decides to run
and attack her......some woman in a barn? So she hits about 10 guys
over and over and over until the army runs away!?!?!?!?!?! Now I
have just seen the episode where Gabrielle faces her memories, and can't
help but feel like this was the episode that should have come directly after
the Bitter Suite. Its timing was horrible at least, and seemed more
like a quick espisode that the writers threw together to try and explain
the mess they got themselves into. And speaking of the writers, what
is their obsession with having Gabrielle nude? Seems like it happens
a lot.
As for the actors,,,, I love all those who play the gods, Joxer, and
Gabrielle, but I find little interest in Xena anymore. She was the
main focus in the show, because of her intense facial expressions and
acting. Her character was interesting too, but after the last couple
of months, I find her to be evil, a hypocrit, and a horrible person.
After the Bitter Suite, she seemed to be happy with Gabrielle, but in the
next several episodes, she acts like a complete B**** to Gabby. Then
in one episode, she is all caring and nice. She is always changing,
her attitude with Gabby in an inconsistant manner. Beyond all this,
Lucy Lawless seems to be using those once perfectly timed facial expressions
on every scene. Someone takes a drink and she becomes silent and
wide-eyed. It is sooooooooo over dramatic, that it is pathetic. Xena
is doing more outrageous and unnessisary flips, when it would be quicker
for her to walk, and she is always a Know-It-All. Why can't once,
she not have the answer, or maybe look to Gabrielle (who is ever changing
and developing as a character, unlike Xena).
They show had great direction and I am dissapointed in where it has
gone. I mean for none of this to be offensive, it is mearly my opinion
and the reasons, that if the show doesn't improve quickly, I will
no longer be Xena fan or watch the show....
a very sad...
