cnwinters - a moment please?

I saw your recent post regarding Gabrielle and Renee and found myself rather stunned. I have copied and pasted your statement here:

I realize I have not seen all the postings ever made by fan writers, but I think yours is the first I've seen in which a writer places a such a judgment in plain print. You are most certainly entitled to your opinion about the talent of any of the actors, but such a statement makes me wonder if a bias will appear in your fan fiction. To me, such a statement implies denigration of Lucy and her abilities to portray Xena.
Xena is as she is because of the producers and writers and of how Lucy expresses what is in the script. The same is true for Renee. I'm not sure how that make one actress "more talented"than the other. Both are different actresses playing different characters. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Personally, I don't make those comparisons between the actresses.

Since every fan writer and fan reader starts from the same place - that is, what we see on the screen: Lucy's interpretation of Xena, I have been wondering if your Xena is vastly different, favoring Gabrielle over Xena, to the exclusion of what is seen on the show. What I expect, at minimum, from any fan writer, is that the Xena we see on TV is the basis for the Xena in fan fiction. The same is true for Gabrielle.

Such statements as you made suggest I may not want to read your fan fiction. Can you address my concerns?
