Well, here goes. By George, I think my hands are shaking.

*Give Me Peace*
FATHER!
I beg you.
Give me peace.
Still this heart that beats its harsh tattoo,
Distending my breast with anger and hate.
*Blood! I lust for it,
Loathing and despising myself for the wont of it.
NO!*
Give me silence.
Deafen my ears to the cries, the shrill cacophony of despair.
Quiet the soul-wrenching torrent of images and sounds and smells and tastes.
*In my name,
Burning, torching, searing, scorching.
No! NO!*
Give me innocence.
Wipe clear my brow, feverish with rage, cruelty, death.
Take hold my hand, stay its course.
Blind me with the light of forgiveness
So I do not have to look on the horror of my deeds.
*The child!
Shattered and lifeless. . .
no! No! NO!*
Help me.
Shroud me in your coolness.
Cleanse me with your darkness.
Hold me in your embrace.
Release my soul to the winds.
Give me peace.

Well, what do you think? Comments, suggestions, critique welcome!
BTW, anyone want to hazard a guess who "FATHER" is?
Thanks for reading.

Man, it may not be a stage, but it's still nerve-wracking.
