Hi everyone. This is one of my insane commentaries on the ills of
society as I see them and the very nature of humanity. If you are
not disillusioned and are tired of extreme wackos like me decrying
every little thing, stop reading right here and read a bright, sunny,
cheery, the-world-is-going-great-when-your-head-is-in-the-sand
commentary. Neverdreams, I apologize for stealing your rant symbol
but I just think that it is so great that I had to use it. You are
most welcome to read my insanity below. ;)

You know, one reason I like Xena as much as I do is because she is a
great hero, but she is not perfect. She is not all goodness and
cheerfulness and right. And that is what makes her a hero, because she
fights her dark side in order to do good. That's another reason that
I'm not so keen on Herc, because he's such a choir boy. He, like,
NEVER does anything wrong! And that SOOOO reflects on how our messed-up
society oversimplifies everything. It's either black or white, left
or right, one or the other. You're either for or against, friend or
enemy. And that is SO wrong, because almost NOTHING in this world is
that simple, that one-sided. You can't find me one person in this whole
world who is completely good or completely bad. We all fall somewhere
in between, be it closer to either side. We're all in the gray somewhere,
between the extremes. But the very nature of people prevents us from
taking things as they are. We have to simplify, categorize, label.
We all form our own narrow little template of how the world works, and
we label everything accordingly so it fits. And when something comes
along that we can't label so easily, we ridicule it, dismiss it as
wrong or abnormal. We form our opinions about everything based on our
narrow view of the world that is skewed by perspective. The truth is,
no one fits into such a mold. We can't spend our whole lives trying
to categorize, classify, squeeze things into the mold if we are to
advance as a "civilization." (If there is such a thing.) Do you know
why we are so obsessed with our little templates, our labels and
simplification? Because if something can't be labeled, that means it
doesn't fit into our narrow little view, and that means there's the
possibility that our idea of the way the world works...just might
be WRONG! And lord only knows the last thing us humans can stand is
to be wrong.
Okay, I'm done now. And please, don't try to slap a label on me!

KoolKat
